DS was watching the Food Network Unwrapped WDW Special on TV last night, and said that he saw some desserts at Chef Mickey's that kids can make themselves. He mentioned an edible "play-doh", painting a cookie, decorating cupcakes... Is this really offered at Chef Mickey's? I just remember the MYO ice cream sundaes with TONS of toppings, and a few other dessert offerings (cakes, brownies...). I don't want him to have his hopes up if those things aren't there, but he insists they said kids get to make their own desserts and "play with your food" (boy, was he excited by that one!) at Chef Mickey's. Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

We did the cookies the kids decorate last Easter at Boma and I believe it is also offered at Shutters,Ohana and other restaurants. I have never seen anything at Chef Mickeys besides the dessert buffet.

I know Garden Grill .. You can decorate youe own cupcake .. I think some of the stuff they showed was done at the GF resort kids camp..

I saw this last nght also and they showed a mickey rice krispy treat that was HUGE, are they all that big?? The one they showed was the size of a dinner plate.

No. The ones we had were similar in size to the ice cream bars.

I don't remember the cookie painting from Chef Mickey's, but my son did that when we ate at the Concourse Steakhouse on May 10th. It's called a "Painter's Palette" dessert which came with a Mickey Mouse-shaped sugar cookie and different flavors of icing in a little palette. The waitress brought a paintbrush for my son to decorate the cookie, and he finished his "masterpiece" by topping it with sprinkles. Too cute! It was great for keeping our two-year old really busy while we finished our food. HTH! :)

I knew they had these special desserts at other restaurants, but DS insists that the show said they were all available at Chef Mickey's. He was jumping up and down with excitement during the show because he knows we have ADRs for Chef Mickey's, and he thinks he is going to get to make all of those cool desserts he saw on the show while we are there. I was pretty sure they do NOT offer them there, and wanted to set the record straight so he's not disappointed! Thanks for the help on where we might be able to make some of them, though!

My kids saw the same show. They definitely do not have these at Chef Mickey's just as you suspected. My kids were fine with the sundaes but they aren't interested in returning to Chef Mickey's on our next trip.....

:wizard: Chef Mickey's used to have Make Your Own Cupcakes a few years ago. I think it was our 2002 trip. I remember my DD being able to pick her frosting and toppings. They had it set up along the long counter area on the other side of the wall where you line up to get your PIC taken. Donald Duck usually stands in this area. But I haven't seen them do this ever since then and we have been to CM's at least once a year since. :sunny: Rebecca
