I have always called Member Services to book my stay.

I know you can book online at 8:00 am instead of waiting to call at 9:00. Are there any other differences?

Can you book online, if you need to borrow points? Or should you transfer the points before booking date?

Do you get a confirmation # right when you book online or does DVC send an email later?

Thanks for any help.

IMO booking online is better, less errors unless you make them. You can't borrow until you are making the reservation, same with MS.

As soon as the reservation is made, go to the contact form on the member website and send MS an email of your room requests, they will add them to the reservation and email you a confirmation. Again less errors compared to calling.

Can you email MS with specific room number requests? And what is the email address? Thanks

Yes you can but it lowers your chance of getting what you want. You need to login to your member account, use the contact form to make your request for security reasons. Provide the reservation number and your request. Do not send a regular email, they can't help you because they don't know who sent it.

Think about the process of assigning a room. A guest needs to be checking out the same day that you are checking in for a specific room. If that doesn't happen the assigner doesn't know why you wanted that room and they will just give you any room.

If you request close to elevator, pool view, even number rooms, high floor, these give the assigner something to work with and the chances of getting a match is much greater.

Thanks for the great advice! We just booked VGF 2br standard view for next May and wanted to see if we could get a room with a view of the fireworks.
