Please double check your return receipts...my return was put on someone else's card

This was a first, and I don't think it was a scam, just an error, but still an error.

I returned a couple of items to Meijer (with receipt), everything purchased on my Visa. They asked me if I wanted it put back on my credit card (yes), and when DH looked at the receipt later in the day, noticed that it was returned to a Meijer Credit card. We don't have a Meijer credit card.

I reported this to a manager, and the only thing she could figure out is that the register still had the last customer's transaction open (maybe cancelled), and just added my items to that. Who knows...but I will check more closely from now on : )

or if it was the sales associate's card. :(

I recently heard of a person paying for dinner with a credit card, and being handed back someone else 's credit card.
Honest mistake?
that credit card they were "mistakenly" handed was already out of date.

So it could have been an honest mistake or someone could be trying to steal from you. Only the details tell the truth.

This was more of a curiousity than a concern for me/watchout for others. When I called Meijer and spoke to one of the managers, they were wonderful (have been on two occasions I have needed their help). What you stated is why I took it to a manager, because it was weird enough to potentially be fraud. Maybe 15 years ago we had a pizza guy do that to us, scan our card twice, second time, pulled out $20 cash from it. When we called (we compare all receipts to our card), the kid had been caught and fired/prosecuted. Not sure which. They refunded without issue, and were apologetic.

I have shopped at this Meijer enough to remember this girl as a cashier, and now in customer service. I know crooks come in all shapes and sizes, but it wasn't the first place my mind went to with her...absent minded maybe ; )

I still have to go into the store (have been sick, and they couldn't handle it over the phone). I am 100% confident that they will fix it...compared to other stores, Meijer has been (as of late) very easy to work with in Customer Service...the manager also left a note in the dept about this.
