Please don't use that cheap, fake wood for your floor replacement if you're selling.

That's fine for you.

I was simply saying that some people have a mental block and are unable to do that.

One house we visited--the homeowners were removing wallpaper. While I can look past wallpaper, apparently many buyers could not and at the urging of their listing agent, they were busy getting rid of all of it.

I can't remember how long they were on the market at that point.

It was a contender for us--but a bit high in our price range (a little bit beyond.) It was a great house, but we didn't want to overextend ourselves.

We were not the first people who couldn't look past the bunnies.

p.s. my only issue with laminate--as I really have none--is an overinflation of price that doesn't reflect the true "added value" at all.

No need to get defensive, I just don't see looking past a certain decor as a burden. I don't want to see a dirty sink, or cracked walls and unfinished mouldings because that means more work for me, but the decor choice of the seller has no impact on my decision. I guess that is why I could never dream of asking a seller for an allowance to change something just because I don't like it.

I also look at the laminate (in regards to the OP) in this way, if the sellers kept the old carpet, or whatever it was they replaced, the house would have been priced less to sell, so why wouldn't replacing that floor allow the seller to raise the asking price alittle? I'm not sure what the home was priced at, and what comparables were so I can't say it was overinflated. This is the quote from the OP, it doesn't mention anything about overinflating the price, only that she doesn't want to pay for the fact that they put new flooring in that didn't match her tastes.

"just let me replace the floor covering because I prefer real wood and I'd rather have an allowance than have you feel like you need to recoup what you paid for rubber/wood look floors."
