Today, I learned of something that sounds too strange to be true, but is.
There is a grass roots campaign started which urges everyone to send small amounts of rice in envelopes to President Bush as a protest of the impending war on Iraq. Now, I have no problem with people having concerns about the war, most do, but "what are they thinking?" Apparently, something similar was done in the past with Eisenhower and China.
I just ask you to think of what happens to rice when put through the letter automation equipment. (reports of oats being used as well) Postal employees tend to get a little excited when anything even close to white powder starts leaking out of envelopes, and with good reason!
This started on the West Coast and is being encouraged through emails that I have seen.
If any of you get this email, I hope you will disregard it. I work for the Postal Service and I can see this causing some problems if it catches on.
Surely there is a better way to make your opinion heard?
I will get off my soapbox now!!
