Please don't be angry, but are Heelys allowed or prohibited by WDW in the parks? :)

I do not believe that they are allowed in the parks, yet I did see some kids wearing them.

One girl completely slipped and fell on her behind at Animal Kingdom. She wasn't hurt, but it sure did look like it hurt! For that reason, I would leave them at home for the kids to enjoy once your trip is done. Better to be safe than sorry! :)

From everything I've read on the boards, Heelys are not allowed in the parks.

DS wanted to wear his ... so we said he could but he had to leave the wheels at home and put the covers on the soles! He was fine w/it b/c he said they were v. comfortable to walk around in all day long.

ETA - in July, we saw one of the "head honchos" (the guys who wear WDW id but are dressed up and carry the clipboards around) tell a child's parents that they had to remove the wheels from the boy's sneakers. So, maybe some CM's are cracking down on this?!

They aren't allowed in the parks. On behalf of all of us who really don't like kids wearing heelies at the park, Please Don't pack them.

I don't think they are allowed either but I have seen a ton of them during visits. I think they SHOULD be banned. There is a time and place for everything. WDW definitely isn't the place for Heelys. To many people, both young and old that can be injured/knocked down by a Heely out of control. It's annoying when a child runs into you or bumps into you 'cause they just don't have the sense NOT to play around on them in crowded public areas.

Just wanted to say that Heelys are banned at our local amusement park. They are v. observant at the front gate and they'll make you go back to your car and leave your wheels there!

When we were there last September we saw CM's numerous times to tell the kids to stop using the wheels...they are not allowed.

No heelys allowed, but that doesn't seem to stop them. We saw kids sporting them in every park. Some were good at maneuvering and stopping, but many seemed to have just acquired them for the Disney trip and had a hard time controlling their movements. I saw a few crash and burn. I don't understand parents who let their kids wear them in such congested places. Much of the time it's hard enough to move walking, much less trying to wheel through the crowds.

They are officially not allowed in the parks.

Not allowed - -although I saw numerous kids wheel past CMs last week with nary a word.

Saw them everywhere though everyone here is right they are not allowed.

Had a kid run into me and the stroller. Not to be rude myself but when you get out in that MANY people something like that is bound to cause either injury to the wearer or someone else. That is probably the reason they aren't allowed.

Regardless of whether there are other children wearing these obnoxious shoes -- please just leave the wheels at home.

Thank you for being courteous enough to check the rules before heading out for your trip. I wish other parents were as respectful. :thumbsup2

I knew ahead Of time that there would be opposition to my question. I was just looking for the official rules and some feedback from other respected DISers. Thanks for the info and for your note in particular. :flower3:

my dd is only 5 and has no idea about heely's yet, but if she did, I would not let her wear them in a mall, in an amusement park, in a store, etc. They could be worn on the street and that is it!

I don't know if I would even let her have them. I'm thinking that is what skating rinks were made for.

While lining up for Test Track about a week ago, we heard a message over the loudspeakers reminding everyone that Heely's are not allowed anywhere in WDW. I certainly saw a lot of children wearing them though!

No - its listed on the guidemaps, there is a sign at the entrance of the parks and on the WDW website that shoes with wheels are not allowed.
Here is the quote from the official WDW website:
