Is it too much trouble to get to Poly resort from pop???

We've done Crystal Palace, Hoop, Tusker breakfast, and 'Ohana and we love all of those.

Regarding the transportation- I'd catch a bus from POP to MK and then hop that monorail to Poly. Aside from just taking a cab, that's the most painless way I can think of.

1st night Captain's Grill- I hear it's good, but is more for the adults to enjoy, than your young boys.
Crystal palace- Always fun. Great atmosphere. Food is decent. Can get VERY noisy and crowded, though, which sometimes deters us.
Chef de France- Awesome place. Feels like a French Cafe. The food is very good for the price. (the Quiche Lorraine is amazing as are the beef shortribs).
Sci Fi Diner- atmosphere is awesome. Best Reuben I have ever had, and Reasonable.
Rainforest Cafe- NOT A FAN AT ALL. Atmosphere is cool like every other Rainforest in the U.S., but the food was bad, service was bad, and the place was filled to the brim with people. These restaurants are loud to begin with, add hungry, cranky kids.
Hoop De Doo Review- Probably the best Dinner Show, kids will enjoy, but is very expensive.
Tusker- I have heard mixed reviews, but breakfast should be o.k. The characters will enhance the experience, and it is convenient to have a restaurant actually in the Animal Kingdom.
Coral Reef- This place is amazing. Atmosphere is a little more upscale, but the restaurant itself is breathtaking.

We've been to Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, HDDR, Rainforest Cafe, Sci Fi, and 'Ohana (both BF and dinner)--I loved Crystal Palace (for dinner and breakfast), HDDR, and 'Ohana. Coral Reef was so so (but I'd still go back for my daughter and I think your sons will love the fish tank), the Rainforest Cafe has ok food (although the volcano dessert is really good!), but again, your boys will love it. Sci-Fi was good--we'd go back again and the set up was something my daughter really liked.

The best bet is to take a bus from the magic kingdom, then the monorail, I think the kids would like that anyway.

Of course on the way back take monorail to magic kingdom, then bus to pop.

I've been to Disney sevreral times, I have never heard raving reviews about the French restaurant. We always go to 9 Dragons in China.

A couple of places you may want to consider ar Narcoosies at Grand Floridian, as it has pretty good quality food, and a nice view of Magic Kingdom. Yachtsmens Steakhouse is a great reatuarant, and finally Kona Cafe has a great breakfats with Tonga Toast and Pineapple macademia Pancakes.

Captians Grill- have never tried it but have heard it's a hidden gem and must try!
Crystal Palace- we love it! When the kids were younger we were all about the character meals. It's nice to see them without standing in line wasting park time!
Chefs- one of my top 3 favorite restaurants. So good!
Sci Fi- great atmosphere, food is good
Rainforest Cafe- we've never eaten at the Disney locations as we used to have one at our local mall
HDD- never tried it
Tusker House- pretty good, again, bonus seeing characters will getting a meal out of the way
Coral Reef- we only go for the atmosphere, food/service gets worse each time we go
Kona/Ohana- LOVE them both!!!!
Its easy to get to the restaurants at the Poly, just go to MK, hop on the monorail and it'll take you right to it.

We just got back in January, and had our 2 small girls (3 and 5). My comments are below in red!

Keep in mind we are staying at pop and have 2 small boys (3 and 6)
1st night Captain's Grill--never been
Crystal palace--haven't done this with kids, but dh and I did it ourselves a few years ago. Buffets are nice because you go at your pace for eating. So if the boys are antsy, you control how fast they get their food. We really enjoyed our dinner here and thought the food tasted good. A bonus for the kids was the characters!
Chef de France ( reservations at 5...will we see Remie??? I'm concerned about the quality of food here).--we ate here in Dec/Jan this year, and really had a good experience. Our food was delicious and we did see Remi, but we were there for lunch. Not sure what his hours are! The French Onion soup was GOOD!
Sci Fi Diner--my dd loved this place! Just the fact that she was sitting in a car to eat. She was entertained by the movies playing on the screen while we were eating. We didn't have high expectations food wise and just went with the burger which was really good. They also have good shakes!
Rainforest Cafe (Downtown)haven't been
Primetime restaurant (I am nervous about this choice)we also ate here on NYE this year! I also was nervous because of the "antics" but I think we lucked out because it was NYE and they were really busy! We were a group of 12 and they did seat us all together. Everyone really enjoyed it here too.
Hoop De DooWe also did the Hoop De Doo on our first night in December. My girls were both glued to the show! I wasn't sure what to expect as far as their attention level, but they liked it. DD5 even laughed at some of their silliness. The food was good and beer/sangria/wine? comes free with your ticket!
Tusker (breakfast)haven't been
Coral Reefhaven't been with kids, but DH and I were there a few years ago. we had a seat right by the tank. I think our girls would have liked it here, being able to watch the sealife while they ate. This was DH's favorite meal on that trip.
Kona or Ohana...undecidedDec/Jan we did Ohana with all 12 of us, and it was a GREAT choice! The food is some of my favorite, and the atmosphere is great for kids. Coconut races, dancing, if they wanted to. We've done Kona in the past and REALLY like the food!

Is it too much trouble to get to Poly resort from pop???Just take the bus from POP to the MK, then hop on the monorail to the Poly.

1st night Captain's Grill
Crystal palace We had dinner there last week and enjoyed it. The character interaction is great. The food is good, not amazing but it gets the job done.
Chef de France ( reservations at 5...will we see Remie??? I'm concerned about the quality of food here).
Sci Fi Diner We ate there in 2009. The food is good, not amazing. The atmosphere is cool...at first...until the movie clips got on my nerves. We were there for a long time though due to bad service, so that may have colored my view. The rest of the family enjoyed it more than me, however.
Rainforest Cafe (Downtown)
Primetime restaurant (I am nervous about this choice)
Hoop De Doo
Tusker (breakfast)
Coral Reef I had lunch there in 2009. The food was good but a bit salty. I love salt, so it wasn't a problem for ME but it could be if you don't like salt. The atmosphere by the tank is super cool, though, and while I was at the Seas, I had a twinge of regret that I didn't book it for our trip last week.
Kona or Ohana...undecided We ate at 'Ohana for dinner on Sunday. We thought the food was good to very good and it was entertaining for the kids. It's also fun to look around the Poly. I think we'll return some day, but not on our next trip.

Is it too much trouble to get to Poly resort from pop??? I haven't done this specifically, but if you are going for dinner, it's easy to do on your MK day. Or, you can simply take a bus to MK and then switch to the monorail (or boat). It's not hard at all.

Answers in red!

Crystal palace - this is my favorite place to eat; this is only because you are able to see the characters without waiting in line.

Chef de France - I would recommend other places. It's not that unique and the food is not spectacular for french food.

Sci Fi Diner - It's a nice restaurant classic diner food with a movie playing. Go for the experience of a theme and not the food.

Chef de France ( reservations at 5...will we see Remie??? I'm concerned about the quality of food here).

Remy begins his last round of the day at 5:20 Monday - Saturday. They won't promise that Remy will be there because he's a highly sophisticated audio animatronic figure that could have mechanical problems unexpectedly. It's best not to promise your sons that they will see Remy; rather let him be a surprise. Also, you must be seated when he visits your table so I suggest that you arrive at the restaurant no later than 4:45 to allow extra time if they are seating late.

We've had many enjoyable meals at Les Chefs. The lobster bisque and onion soup are very good. The short ribs is one of our favorite entrees. The grilled steak was good, although I did ask for the sauce on the side. For dessert we've enjoyed the profiteroles, sorbet and apple crepe.

Here's my 2 cents

Keep in mind we are staying at pop and have 2 small boys (3 and 6)
1st night Captain's Grill - Never been so I can't say
Crystal palace - We love breakfast here at 8 am. Walking through a sparse MK is awesome. Getting on the rides fast, even better.
Chef de France ( reservations at 5...will we see Remie??? I'm concerned about the quality of food here). - We've never been b/c I can't find anything on the menu that my 9 year old would eat. I think seeing Remy would be awesome.
Sci Fi Diner - have heard great things, but haven't been. I think only two to a seat and we are a party of three
Rainforest Cafe (Downtown) - We have on nearby. It's okay. I would choose the T-Rex b/c Dinosaurs rock. We have been to both and the T-Rex is just tops. Food is the mostly the same.
Primetime restaurant (I am nervous about this choice) - My son would freak out if the staff started yelling at him for not eating something. Even if it was in good fun, it would ruin our day.
Hoop De Doo - Loved this. Son laughed so hard (at 7) that he literally fell out of his chair.
Tusker (breakfast) - Our top breakfast choice. 8am yet again and first people on the safari.
Coral Reef - heard good and bad things. haven't been b/c we have an aquarium restaurant here in houston. we choose the garden grill when we go.
Kona or Ohana...undecided - for breakfast? I would say Ohana if you are on the Dining Plan, if not, Kona OOP. For dinner, Ohana is good. I just hated having to peel piles of shrimp for my kid.

Nope, a bus to MK and monorail to Poly.

I concur re: CP and SciFi.
