Please convince me on SBP ceremony site

We have tentatively decided on SBP for our ceremony site, but we are a little unsure of it. It seems like a large and public venue and we don't want onlookers snooping or listening in on our ceremony. We are very shy (especially me!) and we really want the ceremony to be private and quick!

Our actual dream choice would be the site at the WL, but unfortunately we just cannot narrow down our guest list from 16 to 10. We decided to stay at WL for the wedding portion of our trip instead.

Are there any other secluded ceremony sites or will we love SBP? It just seems so big in the pictures. We will only have 16 guests and, outside of a chupah, we are not spending any money on additional decorations. & do passerbys have a view of the ceremony? Can you hear them & does the outside noise compete with the ceremony sounds?

We aren't interested in spending extra money on the wedding pavillion (DF does not like GF resort at all-go figure :confused3 ) & we aren't interested in the Yacht Club location-don't like being surrounded by all those hotel rooms.

Thanks!! :goodvibes

If you have your heart set on getting married at the SBP then get married there it really is up2 you and your hubby where you wanna get married.

We wanna get married at the yacht club gazebo but like you said it's surrounded by all the hotel rooms.

We really wanna get married outside & the only venue outside that we liked was the yc Gazebo but the one thing i don't like about it is all the hotel rooms around it as people will be watching n that as if they have got a free pass to the wedding but my fiance said that there is nothing that you can do about it but i really don't want anyone watching from the balconys but with all the disney outside venues the yc gazebo is the only one we like.

Is there anything that can be done about the hotel rooms around the yc gazebo ? if not then i'll just have to live with it.

SBP is big, there's no doubt about that...but it can also be very intimate and "private".

When I was married there it was just my DH and me and we didn't feel overwhelmed.

While SBP is just off the Boardwalk and can be seen by passers-by, it is still a bit secluded because of all the trees and landscaping around the structure itself. Yes, you may have some onlookers but they will not really be able to hear anything (except maybe the music) nor will you really be able to hear them. And you won't notice them because you will be too wrapped up in your ceremony.

You will not get a lot of "noise" from the Boardwalk for a couple of reasons. One, because most ceremonies are held during the day when most folks are at the parks. There will be people milling about but it's not going to be huge, noisy crowds. And second, the music and entertainment on the Boardwalk is at night, after your ceremony so that won't be a problem.

I guess the biggest possible distraction may be the Friendship boats. They pass by SBP on the way to Epcot and sometimes toot their horn in celebration. Our ceremony had a brief "moment" while they passed. It was actually quite nice!

Many brides don't do anything to decorate SBP. The pictures really don't do it justice and it is really quite beautiful just as it is...

As you've already noted, the only more secluded sites are the Pavilion and the Terrace, but each has it's limits (the higher cost of the Pavilion and the guest limit at the Terrace).

Personally, I think SBP is a better choice for you and your guests because you can essentially keep everything under the structure itself (let your planner know you wish to do this). At the YC Gazebo, your guests and cake cutting would be on the "lawn" outside of the structure which would increase your visibility.

I hope that helps some.

I think there's a garden behind BW that is supposed to be pretty secluded.
I don't remember the name of it. Our coordinator suggested it but she said there is a walk way behind it that maintenance cart could come through. So if you're not worried about that, the location might be a good option.

It is actually my favorite of the site which is why we picked it:) But if your heart isn't set on it maybe you should d one of the others?

Thank you for the vote of confidence guys-I am starting to feel much more comfortable again with the SBP site. I think I got myself nervous & worked up for no reason as usual!!

I'm very glad to hear that there is no music coming from the BW during the morning/day and that it will likely be less crowded with people. We won't mind if the Friendship Boats toot their horn at it-that might be sorta funny!

I know this sounds like a silly question, but does the Escape wedding coordinator or anyone block or rope off the entrance way from other Disney guests intruding?

Hey,

I just wanted to say thanks for asking this question - we have also switched to SBP from the Terrace at Wl due to too many guests (13 in our case) and I hadn't thought about these things.

People find it strange, as I'm an actress and Drama teacher, but I hate being on show as myself, so I know just how you feel!

I'm having my wedding at SBP as well in December and I was asking the same questions. We want a short and sweet ceremony. We're not sappy lovey people, so I really don't want to be puttingon a show of our love for passerbys. Thanks for all the advice for me as well.

They don't rope off the entrance, but it is set back from the path and separated by a lawn, so any passersby would have to be pretty audacious to walk all the way up to your ceremony and intrude. Plus, I'm sure if your wedding coordinator saw that happening, he or she would body-block them! :rotfl:

I think Caryn had someone just walk in BEFORE the ceremony to take pictures of the Boardwalk. WP asked Lindsay if that was a guest, and the conversation went something like "Do you think Caryn would let someone show up like that?" "No, you're right she's a diva".:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I think WP was going to ask them to leave but saw the other guests in jeans and had to ask one of the wedding party.
