This will only be my second trip to WDW and my first trip eating at any table service restaurants.
We are taking family members that are making their first (and possibly only) trip.
Believe me I am not expecting gourmet meals, but I would love a refr. point when it comes to a few of the choices, so if all you seasoned restaurant vets could give me your opinions I would certainly love it.
The people going with us think golden corral is fantastic and Red Lobster is gourmet! (;) )
Here are some of our choices as they have asked us what to choose!

Spoodles, can this be compared to any chain rest?

Whispering Canyon Cafe. Is this at least as good as a golden coeeal buffet if you order the skillet?

Le Cellier, I know they will love this as they love steak

Konas, not sure if they will like this one?

Turf Club

Teppan Edo, I think they will love the show and always say they want to go to benihana but can't afford it.

We were also considering Tonys or The Wave. Any opinions on which would be better?

Thanks so much and if you have any suggestions for change please feel free!!!

Spoodles, can this be compared to any chain rest? Never been

Whispering Canyon Cafe. Is this at least as good as a golden coeeal buffet if you order the skillet? DId not care for--found it very overrated; I stopped eating because I didn't like anything in the skillet--all tasted funny; DH kept eating and ate the chicken/ribs (which I did not touch) and got sick; we won't go back (unless we try breakfast)

Le Cellier, I know they will love this as they love steak Our favorite

Konas, not sure if they will like this one? never been

Turf Club never been

Teppan Edo, I think they will love the show and always say they want to go to benihana but can't afford it. never been

We were also considering Tonys or The Wave. Any opinions on which would be better? Haven't tried the Wave, but we have been to Tony's numerous times. We prefer Tony's for lunch over dinner as the portions don't seem as large, service is better and not so crowded and rushed.

Thanks so much and if you have any suggestions for change please feel free!!!

You might want to think of trying Biergarten. It is a buffet with a lot of difference choices--something for everyone, and they have live entertainment which everyone seems to enjoy.

I've never been to Whispering Canyon and our last Spoodles trip was at least 3 years ago, so I won't comment on those. I think Teppan Edo and LeCellier are good choices.

When I was last at Kona, (1 1/2 years ago) they had a good steak. I didn't try it but the person at our table that did said it was excellent. :thumbsup2 A trip to the Poly is nice for a first time visit. I love walking through that resort when the torches are lit at night. :) Another choice at the Poly would be 'Ohana. "Ohana is fun and is all-you-care-to-eat grilled meats and shrimp served from skewers at your table.

Also, if these folks seriously love Golden Corral, then why not try a buffet? Crystal Palace, 1900 Park Fare or Chef Mickey's are good choices. These are character meals though (but adults are certainly welcome and seem to enjoy it as much as the kids:rolleyes1 ). The food is pretty good for buffet fare and there is a nice selection (the desserts are yummy :thumbsup2 ).

For non-character buffet options, maybe the Cape May clambake buffet, Epcot's Biergarten or Boma breakfast (dinner is great but features some "different" dishes that may not go over with the unadventurous.)

Hopefully, someone can weigh in that is more familiar with Spoodles and Whispering Canyon?

Just wanted to add...Take a look at the menus/reviews on this site or allears.net. The Dis even has pictures posted of the actual menu items - but, beware, it will make you hungry.::yes::

I think Teppan Edo is nicer than Benihana's and the food quality is higher.

I just wanted to comment on the Wave since it's so new. We really loved it, and I dind't think most of it was anything strange. I had the lamb shank with lentil stew and it was OUT of this world. DH had steak and it was tasty, though moderate in size. The lamb shank was TWENTY SEVEN ounces (bone in, but STILL). It was crazy, and crazy good!

I have looked and it made me ravenous! I really wanted to hear opinions also, so thank you so much!

I am so happy to hear this! I love Benihanas!:cool1:

Thank you, that was all it took to convince my daughter!!!

Spoodles...Maybe compare a little to Maggianos, but Spoodles definitely has their own tastes going. If they like Italian, this is a good choice. We have been once, and it became an instant hit with us.

WCC...This can be a really good place or mediocre. Skillet is good, with certain items better than others. Fun experience. Above Golden Corral standards. But not by much:)

Le Cellier...yes, yes, yes!!

Konas...This one we have become fans of after only 1 time. Go for lunch, menu is more varied then.

Turf...cant comment

Teppan Edo... I would really do some research on this one. We went one time to the older version, and very dissapointed.

Tonys or the Wave...Tonys can be hit or miss, Wave heard good things about.
