Let me just clarify my point. If direction is given to communicate something, it should be published for all to see. Therefore, CL's who communicate a position in VMK have support for that position.

Yeah, so what do you think of my idea? :teeth:

I agree 100%. Thanks, Dis.

Actually, that was a thought I had, too. Since the values page hasn't been
updated with this latest development, I'm thinking the system-wide pop up
box works quite well.

I remember last time there was a widespread issue, someone on staff sent
everyone in the game a pop up box alerting everyone to the issue. Instead
of relying on word-of-mouth from staff to CLs to the rest of us, I think
one of those pop up boxes asking players to remove anything referring to
"taken" out of their signatures would be a good start.

Heck, I'd even write it for them:

Due to recent VMK Values changes, "taken" is no longer allowed in VMK.
Please remove any "taken" messages from your signatures and players are no
longer allowed to be "taken". Please read the VMK Home Page for more
information.

And then they'd have an updated link on the VMK Home Page outlining the
new changes in more detail.

That's my .02.

Yes! This was my point, btw...that there needs to be something written that CL's can refer players to. I would never expect another player to do anything I told him/her to do without it coming directly from VMK.

Nice pop-up, Lori. LOL

It all boils down to communication - and I will admit that I think Yavn Speaks was a nice step to enhance communication between players and staff but alerts that come on when you first login where you are FORCED to click OK before you can proceed to play are guaranteed to work and be alot more effective than just nonchalantly adding an update to the values which very few people read on even a semi-annual basis

As you can see, discussions of a non-specific and non-posted rule in a community can be problematic. So why not make alerts that everyone gets so there is no confusion or heresay or rumors? I know that it must not take THAT long to come up with and type up an alert that the VMK staff or producers cannot take 5 minutes out of their busy schedules to add in an alert that all players will recieve to prevent confusion.

That's exactly why I took the initiative to write my own alert message for them.

That is exactly what I have been saying from the minute we heard there was a change in vaules. No one was told a thing. Most of us found out by reading boards. A pop up would be perfect and not a day or two but several weeks since not everyone plays everyday. You do not want players feeling bad when there taken rooms were closed without warning because they had no idea values had changed-how were they to know. Just a little communication......

Bug

I am beginning to wonder if there is some problem or something we don't know about that would keep them from properly communicating to us. Besides the usual suspects of "they don't care" or "they don't have time"

They are the ones who are supposed to be communicating with the players, not leaving them in the dark. If they can't properly take on that task, who can? Perhaps thats why so many people are moving to POTCO, the communication between the developerS (notice there is not just one sole developer that sees the light of virtual day like VMK) is better there. They post bulletins, inform players specifically about every bug and the progress on its fix. FWIW, I believe Toontown also does this. So what's the deal with VMK not being able to? Are they REALLY that short of staff?

I really hate to close this since it could be such a wonderful discussion. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like everyone could discuss without attacking or making sarcastic remarks about CL's as a whole and the OP has requested to have it closed. :(

Please remember that we don't allow flaming or attacking of anyone. Stereotyping a entire group of people is never a good idea. If you have an issue with a person within any group, address their individual actions, not the entire group. In this case, there is an option on the Contact Us page of vmk.com for you to use.
