Hi Guys,
We are booked for Sept 2005. I just read that you pay full fare for first two people in room. (My BIL made ressies) I booked 2 cat 10 adjoining room. So i paid full fare for 4? Why couldn't we say that me and all 3 of my kids are staying in one room and my husband in the adjoining room. Can this be done. (BTW, the 2 cat 10 room still came in cheaper than the suite. Im just curious and will talk to my BIL ta.

3 in a room could save some money, but having 1 person in a room subjects you to the single supplement which is like paying 2 adult fares (all cruise lines are like this)

You could do that, book you and the children in one room and your husband in the other....BUT..your husband would have to pay 175% of one full fare. You will have to do the math to see if it would be cheaper.

Any way you do it you will still have to pay adult rates for the first two people in any cabin..even if they are children....just the way all cruise lines structure pricing.

Adjoining just means that the staterooms are next to each other.

I don't know the age of your three children. But if you want an internal door between the two staterooms, you should make sure you've been booked into connecting staterooms, not just adjoining staterooms.

You are correct that the 1st and 2nd guest in each stateroom pay a 1st/2nd guest rate, regardless of age, based on double occupancy. (It's not really an "adult" rate, because there is only one rate.) The rate covers not only the meals and entertainment, but the room iteself. It's like booking a hotel room at a "per person, double occupancy" rate.

The 3rd/4th/5th guest rates (up to the capacity of the stateroom) are broken into three age categories (under 3, 3-12, all others).

DCL requires that at least one adult is booked into each of two rooms. Then, book one more person into each of the two rooms to avoid a single supplement. Then, for the best total rate, pick a child who qualifies for the cheapest 3rd/4th/5th guest rate (such as an "under 3" instead of a "3-12," or a "3-12" instead of a teen).

Your actual sleeping arrangements can be whatever you want them to be. (DCL doesn't do bed checks.)
