This is our first trip. We have 3 adults and 3 kids, 2 rooms. Does everyone HAVE to buy the dining plan that's staying in the room? I have 2 kids who are extremely picky eaters and would be a waste of money to get the dining plan. However, I think my husband and I would benefit from it.

Do they care if you share food from 2 dining plans with 4 people? I wondered if we bought 2 dining plans and the kids at off our plates when they were hungry....

The Dining Plan states that all in your room must be on the DP. You didn't say what ages your children are. It's not that difficult to spend $10.00 a day for food on a child, especially if you do a character meal. However if your children are over 10, they would be able to choose anything they wanted to eat, but would they eat enough to make it worth $37.99?

My kids are 4, 7 and 8. So, you can use the dining plan for a character meal also? How does that work?

Yes, you can use the plan at Character Meals. The cost of one character buffet is about equal to the cost of the plan per day...so everything else they ate that day on the plan would be free...basically.

They each get one snack, one counter service and one table service meal per day just like adults. Kids do need to eat off the kids menu where they have one though...

All you have to do is look at the TS restaurants and decide which ones you would like to dine at. You could do the Crystal palace at any meal, the characters there are Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger and Piglet. But you will need to make reservations. Liberty Tree Tavern has a character dinner with Pluto, Goofy, Minnie and Chip & Dale. With your kids ages, the Dining Plan would work real well. For instance, if you watch wishes or one of the parades and your kids want popcorn or a Mickey bar, that counts as a snack so you just use one of your credits. You really can't beat it for $10.00 a day per child.
