We booked our reservations for our Oct. cruise almost a year ago. Several months ago, my elderly father became sick. He is doing better but we have decided to take a wheelchair for him because his balance is off. Although we didn't book a handicap cabin, will we still have enough room for the wheelchair in a cabin with a verandah? Is there any chance Disney would consider moving us to a handicap room?

I would call them right away. You would be very tight in a Cat. 6 room with a wheelchair and may not be able to maneuver very well at all. You also will not have easy access to the bathrooms with the wheel chair.

Yes, yes, call them. If you cannot get the room you need, check back with us or the disABILITIES board, lots of us can answer questions.

Call them ASAP, and follow up with the required medical form. The only reason that they wouldn't move you to a handicapped cabin (same category as you've booked) is if the handicapped cabins are already taken.

In that case, it is likely that they will offer you a handicapped room in another category (like with pixie dust!)...or at least they will advise you as to your alternatives. The "worst" alternative would be to stick with what you have now. That is only bad due to the limited space in the cabins.
