My friend and I are taking our sons to Disney at the end of August. Three of the four of us are on the DDP (her son is still under a year old). Here is what I have made "reservations" for:

D1: 1900 Park Fare (my son just has to see Cindy-even at 3, he has a HUGE crush :lovestruc )
D2: Chef Mickey breakfast (tradition for DS and I)
D3: Tony's at MK for dinner
D4: Jiko for dinner-2TS credits each

My questions are: 1) We obviously each have to save 1 TS credit for Jiko because we really only have 4 each (and staying at AKL we have to try Jiko :thumbsup2 )...would Chef Mickey allow us to pay OOP for the 2 adult meals, and use my son's child credit for him? 2) Would I have a problem later in the week on D3 paying OOP for DS's meal in order to save his credit for his Jiko meal the next evening (and yes, he really is eating there, and will need the extra credit for him), while my friend and I use our adult credits at Tony's?

I know, I know, why not just pay OOP for all three at Chef Mickey...but DH just lost his job 2 weeks ago :sad1: (he refuses to let me cancel our mommy/son trip to help with potential expenses, says I deserve it) and while paying OOP for DS at Tony's would only save me a few bucks, every little bit helps in the long run. He is not a big eater, and would only eat a little people entree and have a glass of milk. Do you think it would be more trouble then it is worth to save those extra few bucks?

Probably the best way to answer your question would be to call the restaurants and ask them.

As long as you are using the credits themselves appropriately, I don't see why they should object to you paying OOP for anything. I'm sure there were some controversies back when people were being allowed (or encouraged) to use childs credits for adult meals, but in your scenario, Disney is making more money, not less.

But you never know, so I'd either call the restaurants or be prepared if it doesn't go the way you hope.

Your son, incidentally, is going to see Cindy over and over, up close and personal, at 1900 Park Faire. VERY good interaction with the great woman there.

Why not try Bomas instead then you dont have to worry about the saved credit? We didnt care that much for Jiko's but I have to admit we arent much into fancy foods. The wait was incredibley long. We didnt have an ADR but had waited an hour and returned at our assigned time waited another 30 minutes to be seated and another 30 to get our order taken even though when we were seated the restaurant was only half full.

A lot of places will allow you to pay out of pocket like you are suggesting however the talk here on the boards (remember i'm not trying to say you are doing anything wrong) is that since they are trying to keep people from getting away with saving kids credits to use for adult meals, they have atleast been given a difficult time when trying to pay oop for the kid meal. Even though you would be using it for your kid later, it just kind of throws up a red flag for the servers. However there haven't actually been a lot of posts saying people were denied being able to do things just a lot of speculation and what the phone cm's said and kind of an attitude issue from the servers. If you still want to go to jikos you could hope for best case and go and try if it works great if not and you can adjust your plans if you are denied the oop ability.

I agree with above, go to Boma instead. Much more child friendly. Then you will have no worries about the saved credit issue.

You are staying at AKL, there is a tour in the afternoons (used to be called taste of Africa) which is free! It is fun, and when we did it they gave us a sample of the Taste of Africa dish from Jiko- that was by far the best thing we ate from Jiko (and we did eat there, we could just kick ourselves for passing up Boma).
