Ok my 3 yr. old bro got his cast off his leg yesterday and it is pretty weak.Have any of you gone to Disney when somethin like that happens?Do you think it is safe? :guilty:

His leg will probably be weak for a while. He'll get tired more quickly, but it won't be dangerous (if it would, they wouldn't take the case off yet).
Lucky he's only 3 because he can probably be lifted and carried quite a bit. That might be especially important for the attractions with mving walkways or the ones where you have to step down in or out of a boat.

Check out the information about Guest Assistance Cards in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. He could get a card or sticker that lets him take a stroller into lines just like a wheelchair. That way, he won't get so tired from walking.

Did you or your mom ask the doctor? When I had a five year old that go this cast off he limped for a long time, almost a month. When the cast was taken off he had an inflatable boot for another two weeks that could only be removed for a bath.

I would think he will not want to walk very far as his leg will ache from the muscles getting used to moving again as well as his other muscles having to compensate for the limping.

A stroller, maybe an umbrella stroller, and just making sure he stays rested will be best. My son would push himself for something cool and then be exhausted and not want to move much the next day.

Poor baby. Hope he has a good time and it takes his mind off his ouchie.

I would definitely ask the doctor about the some kind of support - like a medical boot, etc. You might even consider over the counter knee/leg support. It's definitely going to feel weak and he might need some anti-inflammatory meds for pain. But I think as long as he doesn't over do it- like jumping jumping jumping or bouncing on a trampoline he should be find. Kids heal pretty quickly. You could always rent a wheel chair if he gets overtired. He's too little to ride the more vigorous rides, so I think he will be fairly safe. Have a great time. I'm sure the little guy's mind may not necessarily be on his leg - he'll be at WDW!!!! :cool1:
