Plaza Restaurant at MK?

I had a turkey sandwich & it was really good. It was served on a multi grain bread. The shakes are super!

I've always thought about eating here but I think its kind of overpriced for sandwiches and there's so much good counter service in the MK that i'd rather eat at. We LOVE Peco's Bills, Caseys, and Columbia Harbor House and always end up eating there instead.

We have eaten there several times...the food has always been great ...usually the service has been good too. My boys love the mini kids meals..plus they love the mini ketchups and mustards...I hope they are still there. I love the place, because it is nice to sit in a room with a limited number of diners ...unlike a counterservice where someone is always looking for your table ~The Plaza is so small and quiet. No ARD?...sorry there are no tables available...until later ~ no one giving you the eye like when are you going to be done  . It is a great place to relax, take a leisurly lunch or dinner and enjoy a shake, meal and icecream if you can fit it in.! :scratchin

Hate to disappoint, but the mini condiment jars are gone. DH and I were surprised when we ate there in early February. We said something to the waitress, and she told us each one of those jars was costing them 50-something cents. YIKES! I'm not sure they are *that* much, but I know they are more expensive than a small dish of ketchup. So, another MK tradition has gone to the wayside.

Bummer! My DS loved those too. I buy them here at Cost Market then when we go to a restaurant that might not serve ketchup I carry one in my purse for DS who eats ketchup on everything! At WDW we brought them into Teppanyaki and our chef pretended to be mortally offended.

Anyway, Plaza is a nice place to eat. Great milkshakes and malts to wash the food down! :goodvibes

Oh yeah...I remember seeing them at Cost Plus. I'll have to pick some up for our trip in April...just for sentimental reasons! LOL

We really enjoyed the Plaza for a great sit down lunch, out of the heat.
The food was good, the service was great and it was a nice respite to a day in the MK. I would go again

I used to love the Plaza but the last two times, DH & I were there it was not great. After Christmas the service just plain stunk!

And our server took almost the entire meal to get us ketchup for seven people! I was so ticked off, food was cold and kids were upset. She was not busy just really catering to a table near us and ignoring her other 2 tables!

If it had been more than 10 minutes and I still saw her out on the floor, I would have either walked up to her to get my condiments or I would have stuck my head into the kitchen or gone out to the podium. We had a waiter at Plaza, the older hispanic gentleman, that ignored my daughter and I a year ago in December and catered to a larger, spanish-speaking table. My tip reflected that I was very unhappy being treated like crap while he gave the other table everything they wanted with a smile. He barely spoke to us, got snippy when I reminded him I asked for fries with my sandwich instead of potato salad. When he brought out our sundaes, there were no nuts, yet the sundaes he brought out to the other table had nuts. He never stayed at my table long enough for me to have a conversation with him. His loss. When I go back there, I make sure if he is working that I tell the hostess that I will take any other server but him. Why? Because I saw him pull this same behavior another time we were there. What was the difference? The big table got all his happy faces and attention, while the smaller tables were left to fend for themselves. He was going for the big tips.

Oooo..sorry...I just had to get that out! :teeth:

HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE the Plaza. Terrible service and "eh" food. Kids meals are a big JOKE. So, the answer to your question is that it is counter service food at table service prices. (The horrible service is complimentary). :teeth:

So, what table service restaurants do you recommend at WDW?

Crystal Palace, Concourse Steakhouse, Fulton's, Mama Melrose, and Olivia's have always been among our favorites. Though, I have always also enjoyed the Animal Kingdom Rainforest Cafe. I would say the only truly bad dining experiences I have ever had at Disney were at the Plaza and Planet Hollywood. I wasn't particularly fond of 'Ohana, but I wouldn't say it was terrible and the service was great.

The Plaza was just so bad the first time that we would NEVER try it again, and that's really saying something! We waited FOREVER to be seated with a priority seating. Several walk-ups were taken in ahead of us. At the hour-mark my husband politely asked how much longer it might be, and he was told that there were only 1 or 2 parties ahead of us (can't remember exactly now). They then proceeded to call quite a few parties ahead of us.

Once inside we cooled off and decided to just make the best of it. For some reason our waiter giggled every time we spoke, as if "I would like the chicken sandwich" is somehow amusing. He would also disappear for long periods of time, and we had to beg for refills. When my nephew's kid's meal came out, I almost choked. He ordered the grilled chicken skewers, which consisted of (and I kid you not) four tiny little slice of grilled chicken with tootpicks stuck in them. I've seen bigger helpings of cocktail weiners. It was pathetic. After waiting all that time to eat, I had to give most of my food to my nephew so that he would get enough.

Yet, we had heard that the desserts here were wonderful so we decided to maintain our senses and order some dessert to calm ourselves down. It was about this time that the waiter did a drive-by with the check saying "I'll be back for that in a minute." We just felt it was ridiculous, and the food wasn't really any better than what you can get at Pecos Bill's, in my opinion (albeit of a different vareity, same quality though). We've just decided it's not for us. :confused3

Wow, we've eaten at the Plaza many times and have always had great service. :confused3

We love it. Great sandwiches and salads. My husband loves the milkshakes.

Although the little condiment bottles were cute, I'm glad they're gone as I always find them a pain to actually use!

I wonder if the resorts have stopped using them for room service too?

In January, the Plaza, GF and Polynesian were still using them.

The Plaza is pretty much a must do for us each trip. :sunny:

can you orderr dessert only at this rest or get a sundae to go?

I'm sure you could, but you could just go to the ice cream parlor next door. It's the same ice cream (it's called the Plaza Ice Cream parlor).
