Plaza Restaurant 1st Night??

We are arriving from NY about 2 pm on Friday April 2, and are AP holders and want to hit the MK the first night...

We have a PS for the Plaza at 4:50 (latest seating) and want to know what you all think. We don't want a heavy meal or characters (DS is 15) and thought this place would be perfect, fun, cozy, and in the MK...YAY!

Please let us know your recent experiences at the Plaza and how you enjoyed it (or didn't ).

I've heard from my brother (who is a disney hound just like me) that the Plaza is one of his favorite places in the MK. He and his wife don't have kids and this is one place he's always getting me to try. Haven't been there myself, yet, but I've only heard good things about it.

We ate at The Plaza on our first night, and we loved it! We were there fairly late, close to 9, so we were able to watch Wishes from our table, which was so much fun.

The staff is very nice and accomodating, and the food was excellent. I'm still dreaming about the German potato salad!!

I don't care much for the German potato salad, so I get the fries.

But the ice cream desserts are great - Plaza Special Dessert (two scoops of Butter Pecan with caramel and hot fudge, plus whipped cream and nuts).

When I'm really hungry I get the Plaza Club because it is huge. If I'm not so hungry I get the tuna salad sandwich (then I can get cream for dessert).

And if you get a root beer float, don't forget to start drinking it down before the ice cream mixes with the root beer and it starts to overflow.

The Rueben sandwich is awesome! This was one of the best meals we had at DWD. The ice cream is excellent. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and very relaxing. Our service was very good too.

We have always wanted to try the Plaza because of the menu selection and price. However, you may want to consider what happened to us in December. We had a PS at the Plaza. when we checked in , we were told it would be a 20 minute wait. No problem, but we were really hungry. After 20 minutes, found out it would be about 30 to 40 minutes more because their tables weren't turning like they had hoped. The weather was chilly and it was a Saturday night. We ended up scouring the park for a meal, and the counter service restaurants had lines out the door. It was a miserable experience for all four adults and four children. We always make PS. This April we are making a PS for Plaza and a later PS at Crystal Palace just in case the wait is too long at Plaza and we get bumped again. If your PS is on a Saturday night at Plaza during a busy time, you might want to do the same. It's better to be safe than sorry. Hope this helps.

The Plaza is one of my personal faves...casual atmosphere, great decor, and yummy sandwiches. The club sandwich is ENORMOUS! And I haven't even started on the ice cream yet! You'll love it! Have a great time!

We LOVE the Plaza!!! Our favorites are the tuna and reuben. The milkshakes are to die for!!!!!!!! We have always had excellent service from Nina..ask for her..she is an absolute HOOT!!!!

The Plaza is one of my all time favorites. It's a great "in-between" place to eat ---- much, much better quality of food than the counter service restaurants (plus you get served), but much less expensive than a buffet or fancier restaurant. Excellent quality sandwiches.

The hamburgers are great (I think you can get anything you want on them for one price) and the grilled chicken is delicious. There's a salad with chicken and strawberries, I believe, that's real healthy and very good.

DH and I sometimes split a sandwich and the salad, which is a wonderful combination. We also love the German potato salad.
Some of the tables are a little crowded, but it's a relaxing, cool place to have a great sandwich.

Of course there's the shakes, floats, and ice cream!
