Are these two one and the same??? Is it counter service with tables?
A friend told me that they were eating there one night before the fireworks and Tinkerbell came down right over their heads. Is this true? I don't remember ever noticing this place...can anyone tell me exactly where it is, what is good there and how early before the posted time of the fireworks should we order our food in order to get a table. (We will be there Tues Nov 2...might be the beg. of Jersey week but hoping its not too crowded.) Any place better than another to sit to see Tink?

Thanks for all the great info on this board!!

The Pavillion is a counter service rest. in between Main Street and Tomorrowland. You can sit at a covered outside area and look at the castle. This is probably where your friends were.
The Plaza Rest is a small sit-down sandwich shop off main street behind the ice cream parlor. They have a wonderful chicken sandwich. They serve the condiments in little individual serving bottles. It's one of our favorite places. We make a lunch PS just about every time we go to MK. Not a great place to view the castle though - the windows have cafe curtains.

They are two separate places, but right near each other. The Plaza Restaurant is at the top of Main Street (its on the right if you are facing the castle). The Plaza Restaurant is waitress service (indoors) and serves sandwiches and ice cream.

The Plaza Pavillion is on the walkway to Tomorrowland (you'd pass the Plaza Restaurant on the way). Plaza Pavillion is a counter service restaurant with both covered and outdoor seating.

I would guess that your friend was at Plaza Pavillion.

The pavillion serves a delicious toasted italian sandwich that DH & I must have every time we go to MK. It is the best place we have found to view the fireworks. If you head there during Spectro, the place is virtually empty & yes Tinker Bell flies right over your head & you can get a wonderful close up picture of her. Shhhhh! Don't tell anyone. ;)

Thanks allshookup! Thanks for the tip on the Pavillion toasted Italian sandwhich...it sounds yummy!
We will be there Tuesday Nov 2 and I don't think they have Spectro that day as they close early. Is Tink supposed to fly at the beginning of the fireworks or does she only fly on Spectro days?? In any event, you said the Pavillion is good place to sit and see the fireworks so I think we will plan on eating dinner there. Any advice on how much before the start of the fireworks we need to be there to get a decent table?? Since there is not Spectro before the fireworks that day I wonder if we need to be earlier b/c Spectro won't be drawing the crowds to main street right before the fireworks. We do have a fairly large party of 3 adults, one teenager and 3 school aged kids.
The only other time we went to Disney we missed so much b/c it was just a few days before Xmas, people already had off from school so the parks were horribly crowded. We tried to watch the fireworks but we couldn't see a thing. I am so crossing my fingers that Nov. 2 will be better. I am a bit bummed b/c its election day and am wondering how many schools around the country have off!

Thanks!!
Jill

Well, Plaza Pavillion is the big joke around our house now. My dh always is saying...'Well, it's no Plaza Pavillion, but it'll do.' He always makes fun of it but we eat there every single time we are in MK. We can always find a table with a nice view, there aren't usually big crowds there, we like the food (pretty much the same as other spots) the restrooms are empty. Yep, he jokes about it but we eat there all the time. And Tink does fly right over you. Well, that is if she is flying that night. We've only seen her twice.

hmmm well I've never NOT seen Tink fly the last 1/2 dozen times we've been there, but maybe we've just been lucky? Anyway she flies right before the fireworks. If Spectro isn't scheduled for the evening you go, I would try to be there at least 1 hr before Wishes so you can get a good seat up front. If you're not right up front, you won't see Tink go over your head.

I think the problem with Tink flying was that last Dec when we were there, it was too windy. Then, in August I don't know what the reason was. It was the week after H. Charlie went through but it didn't seem to be too windy or anything. maybe Tink wasn't feeling well. We would try to watch from the Rose Garden. Maybe next month we'll eat at Plaza Pavillion and hope for a 'flyover'!

I can understand why they wouldn't want her flying in high wind. That makes sense. Well best of luck seeing her on your next trip goofy4tink!

allshookup & goofyfortink, sorry for the stupid question but we've only been to WDW once and I don't even remember seeing PP. What would be considered the "front" to see Tink? I'm picturing some tables set up in a roped off area near a food counter and next to sidewalk/walkway. Would the best seats be as far away from the the counter and any overhang and as close to the sidewalk as we can get?
Can you tell I'm determined to get this trip right??!!!
For some reason I'm picturing a lot of tree around this walkway...but I guess not if you can see the fireworks. We will be there at 6pm on the dot for a 7pm Wishes!

Thanks for all your help,
Jill

Not stupid at all. Actually it's open air but it has a cement wall enclosing it & as you get further into the restaurant it has a roof over it. I don't believe the seats further in under the roof & away from the wall would be able to view the fireworks or Tink. If you are near the front (meaning nearer to the castle) there is absolutely nothing obscuring your view of the fireworks. I believe there is a lagoon in front of the Pavillion & you are up higher than ground floor. I hope that helps & didn't confuse you more.

This sounds like an awesome place to see the fireworks!
Wonder why more don't do it?? (I;m not telling a sole!) Much better than staking out a couple inches on the curb at Main Street. Have a long, lesiurely dinner (OK, not gourmet but whatever!) and ...oohh! look, fireworks!
We'll be getting as far out from the "roof" area and close to castle as we can.
Thanks everybody!!
Jill
