We are staying at the Poly in July and will be in the MK our first night. Any thoughts on eating at the Plaza for dinner or should we just eat at somewhere at the Poly? Not a fan of Ohana.

I enjoyed the Plaza and since you will already be in MK I would do that

Never ate there so thought it might be good. Thanks for the suggestion!

The plaza has pretty decent food, but also the poly has Kona Cafe which I am a huge fan of. I think they have really good food and would probably choose there over the plaza any day lol

We have only eaten there for breakfast and loved that!

I LOVE THEIR BREAKFAST!!! Sorry for the enthusiasm but I seriously love the Tonga Toast there! We ate there in 2014 for lunch which I think is similar to their dinner menu and I thought it was fantastic! They are always so nice and welcoming there and the food is always good! We love it there...like I said in my previous post if it was between Kona cafe and the plaza...Kona cafe would win hands down

We would go back just for the Tonga Toast for sure. Heard they also serve it at Captain Cook's.

Kona Cafe for dinner is really nice but definitely more expensive than the Plaza. Just depends what your priorities are. If you want to prioritize being at MK, eat at the Plaza. If you want to prioritize dinner, I'd eat at Kona Cafe.

I would do Kona Cafe at some point in your trip for Dinner, since you like the place. Maybe before going some place that isn't as strong on Dining options such as DHS. I would do Plaza for Dinner because I think on a short day it's better to eat Dinner in a park than outside in your situation. Time is a valuable thing on a WDW vacation.

WE love the Plaza and do lunch or dinner there every trip. We've done both breakfast and dinner at the Kona as well....while we loved the breakfast, we found both the food and service to be subpar when we ate dinner there....but this was just our personal experience, and I'm sure others may have had better ones, as with anything else. Eating at the Plaza would also save the hassle/time of leaving the park for dinner.

The food at the Plaza is only so-so. However, it is really affordable (similar to CS) and has such a great look-out spot. The two times I have eaten there, we have either seen a parade or fireworks in the distance. Makes for nice atmosphere on the first night! Be warned, it can be sloooow. I would consider eating at Captain Cooks before heading into MK, depending on your arrival time. You could always book the Plaza just for sundaes!

If given a choice, and esp. already being there, I would go for Kona Cafe over Plaza in a NY minute. If timing works where it doesnt keep you out of MK for too long, then this would be my choice

Clearly, its a matter of personal taste buds! Look at both menus and see what appeals to you. I LOVE the Plaza, do not like Konas for lunch or diner (breakfast is good). The Plaza meals are not too heavy, so you leave not feeling stuffed as you walk around the park! Grand Floridian Café, on the way to MK from the Poly, is really good too.
