I've read the rave reviews about the chicken, is it really that good? What about the mashed potatoes? Debating whether to make a reservation. Thanks for your help!

ETA - just noticed they only take reservations for breakfast. Still curious about the food :)

I'm wondering about going there too, it sounds good! Might have to try on our next trip.

The chicken is that good. When I was there 2 years ago, only breakfast required reservations.

...only breakfast required reservations.

That appears to still be the case. I thought it was table service only until it made the DIS Top 5 Disneyland Quick Service Restaurants. That confused me because I was pretty sure I had seen it as a restaurant that accepted reservations on the Disneyland website, when I was researching places to eat when we go this summer. After watching the DIS video, I went back and checked, if you go to the info on the Plaza Inn on the Disneyland site, under Reservations, you'll see, "reservations are available only during breakfast. Seating for lunch and dinner is on a first-come, first-served basis."

I thought it was a very good lunch. Chicken was moist on the inside and well seasoned. Potatoes were not heavy (though they were a little stiff). I was very happy with the meal. It was very filling.

I will say it wasn't the best I've ever eaten but I come from farm folk and a state where there are still a lot of places that cook farm meal type foods so my standards might be a little high. But I'd eat there again.

It is a meal we have to have every trip. It isn't the best chicken I have ever had but it is a really good substantial meal particularly for a quick service restaurant. Everyone has their own preferences, but the sheer number of people who praise it should give some confidence that it worth a shot.

I also really like the chicken from the Plaza Inn. It's crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The mashed potatoes are fine and the gravy is good (to be fair, I like mashed potatoes, but they're not something I have to have). Last weekend, the other vegetable side was green beans. Those were also pretty good. The only thing that my family tends to skip is the biscuit (but we're not huge biscuit eaters normally).

No way to make reservations for lunch or dinner and yes the chicken is awesome. Its one if the best meals at Disneyland. Also note you can do substitutions like double mashed potatoes, extra gravy, extra biscuits for not much money. My wife and I usually share the meal because it's pretty big.

I'm the odd one out as I didn't think it was that great. My adult kids told me they've never seen me eat fried chicken before. So, maybe I can't compare it to other fried chicken meals since I have apparently gone decades without eating it. I did like the mashed potatoes. Overall, the meal was very heavy and weighed me down. Give me grilled chicken and veggies instead.

I don't eat fried chicken either. Wish they had grilled. But I do like mashers :)

My family and I went 1 time to Plaza Inn for the chicken. None of us liked it. We found it to be very dry. The mashed potatoes weren't anything to write home about either. We have never gone back. There are too many other better places to eat.

The chicken there is really good. Last time I was there we ate at the Plaza 2 days in a row. The second time I wasn't feeling the fried chicken so I had the pot roast instead. Now that was excellent! I think that will be my go to meal now at the Plaza.

The fried chicken at Plaza inn is the one meal we have eaten every single one of our trips. DH and I share one portion and neither of us have ever walked away hungry. My one and only complaint is that the vegetable option always has bell peppers which I am allergic to. Easy fix though, I just get the veggies on a separate plate and DH eats them all.

You can get it baked (no breading) instead of fried! I can't eat the fried chicken because of a gluten allergy, so when I eat there they give me baked chicken instead.

That's great, thank you! I'll try that. DD and her friend can share a fried version :)

We eat here every trip. Its a nice homestyle meal instead of eating junk food all the time. I pay like a dollar more to get all white meat and DD likes the pasta here.

When the line is out the door, about how long does it take to get your food and find a place to sit? I haven't been there in ages because the line has been intimidating.

The line moves pretty good. If the park is packed you'll eat here much faster than waiting for a table at Cafe Carnation or Cafe Orleans.
