I have gotten dinner at the Plaza Inn to go in the past.

Can you get the meal "to go"? Was thinking of eating it at our blanket while waiting for the parade...

Yes. There are plastic to go containers by the cashier. You will have to transfer the meal from the ceramic plates to the containers yourself if you use the containers. We buy the fried chicken dinner and take it home with us on our last day in the park. It "extends" our DL trip a bit.

Huh. Interesting and a little annoying. It's been quite a while since I have done this obviously. I specified to the server that I wanted the food to go, and they served the food directly into to go containers.

We've also told the server we wanted the meal to go and they used to pack it up in the plastic containers rather than plate them, but the last couple of times we were told the containers were now by the cashier station.

When I got a meal to go in December, they put it in a to go container when plating it, but the cashier had the lids.

In case the CM won't give you only one piece:
How many pieces does the kids meal come with? That might be a better option. Or find someone to split with. DH once asked for an extra biscuit, but didn't know about the extra fee. The nice person behind him offered to give him her biscuit because she didn't want it. The CM was fine with that, so everyone was happy. Win Win. If you don't want to keep the extra piece for yourself, maybe someone else in line would want it?

Our kids prefer the fried chicken over the baked drumstick. They switch it w/o a problem. We also order an extra drum stick for each of them. They LOVE the Plaza Inn fried chicken. Anywhere else on property can't compare.

They just charge the a la cart price.
