Plaza Inn ELP viewing area-recent experiences?

Hey! Just curious if anyone has done this recently? How early do we need to arrive to the viewing area? Cannot wait to watch the ELP with my kids!! Thank you!

I went last Tuesday with the Plaza viewing. Parade was at 8:45, and I think we were in the area about 7:15-7:30ish. They had not yet opened the viewing area (roped off but not letting anyone in). Despite being early and getting in right away, we got one of the last curb spots. I sat on the curb between 2 families and my Mom was behind me in the wheelchair. The CM on our side was significantly slower than the one on the other. People who arrived later were much further back, including some who were all the way back in the circle close to the flag pole. So definitely get there early!

I want to say they opened the ropes to let people in about an hour before the parade. But I was not paying that close attention. I just knew to be there early.

I have the MSEP package booked for my party of 2 adults and 2 kids. Can I send one adult to stake out a spot for all of us as soon as the area opens while the rest of us show up closer to the start time?
