I was looking at the website and was unsure...

Is breakfast the only character meal at the Plaza Inn? We would like to do a character meal there, but I don't want to give up prime early touring time (we are coming in July) to sit down for breakfast.

Yes, it's the only character meal. You could try booking late morning after some park time.

Late morning works great. We always try to book the latest possible time (10:40). That way, we get a few hours of prime touring time, and we get terrific character interactions at the breakfast.

When we go and don't stay on-site we use our MM the first opportunity we can to hit rides before the crowds show up for the day.
Then we'll schedule a Character Breakfast for another MM/EE day. CB reservations start 10 minutes after MM/EE opening time.

When we have done the late morning time, we haven't seen as many characters.

One other thing to think about with the late breakfast is, unless it has changed, the Plaza Inn is very efficient when it comes to switching from breakfast to lunch. If your breakfast reservation is close to the end of breakfast make sure you hit the buffet right away and don't wait too long assuming the food will be there. Once the end time for breakfast hits they will start taking away the food so make sure you are careful not to get too caught up with the characters and miss out on getting all the food you want.

We are planning on getting brunch tickets for about 10am. One is because we'd like to do some rides before the meal and second, the adults are hoping to make this the main meal of the day. I know my 5 year could be too distracted to eat much and I'm okay with that. Does anyone know how long you have to wait with a reservation before getting seated? Also, is there any chance that Donald would make an appearance? He's my daughters favourite character.

We haven't had issue with long waits to be seated. Sometimes the line to check in can be a bit long though.

Anything is possible, but we haven't met Donald there. We have met him in Town Square a number of times though. Just watch the times guide on the app and wait over by the hat shop just before he's due to come out and follow to where he sets up a line.

I've never had to wait to be seated once I checked in, but sometimes the check-in line is long-ish. I don't think we've ever had to wait longer than 10 minutes, though.

I have never seen either of the Ducks at Minnie's. Pluto and Goofy (rarely - and, as I think about it, not since 2013), but none of the other Big 6 except Minnie herself.

We did 10:30 breakfast at Plaza Inn, and it worked out really well for us - it was an MM day for us (7am), so we had lots of park time and went over to eat late morning. We had like 11 characters? And some came around twice because things had cleared out by then and we were some of the only people left. They DO pull food from the buffet at 11:30, so you can't be super lazy about eating/talking to characters. We saw Minnie, Pooh, Eeyore, capt Hook, Max, Tigger, Peter Pan, Chip, Dale...I can't remember the rest. Pretty decent mix though.
