We are thinking of celebrating DD and my birthdays a week early while we are in DL. I read that you need to reserve 5 days in advance for the party at Plaza Inn. We are going to be in the park Jan 9-12 and wonder if it is really necessary. Is the party worthwhile as well?
thanks

I'd be interested to know too, were going in early May to celebrate my son's 9th birthday. I don't mind reserving it early, but it's just gonna be the 3 of us, so I wonder if it's worth doing. I want to do something "special" for his birthday though. Also thinking of doing a lunch at the BB instead of this...

We will be celebrating my DDs birthdays when we go in March. I've been "collecting" birthday info for awhile now :) Here are some links:

The party is cute, especially for younger kids. I think its around $10 per person. Each person receives a small birthday cake, frosting and sprinkles to decorate their own cake. Each person also receives a plastic cup they can keep with punch in it. They will also bring you ice water if you ask. This funny guy in a big birthday cake hat named Pat E. Cake runs the party, he sings songs, everybody decorates their cakes and then Minnie and Mickey make a brief appearance. They will take pictures with the birthday kid but no autographs. My daughter did this for her 8th birthday and loved it and my nieces did it for their 5th and had a great time. I think its not a bad deal for the money given each person gets a snack and drink. I think this is a better deal than the birthday buckets they offer at the character meals personally. I would reserve, in fact you can do it now or anytime up to 60 days in advance. They usually have two parties per day in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. The party is held in the outside area of the Plaza Inn. Hope this helps!

We did this for DD's 9th birthday and she thought it was pretty dorky. I wouldn't do it much over age 8. It was cute and fun, but I could have spent the money doing something else. It is definately geared to the 3-7 yrs old crowd. He walks around singing silly songs and you decorate the cake (which tasted terrible btw) and get a happy bday cup. They also do a photo session with mickey/minnie and try to sell you the photos. If you do go, sit towards the middle. We were off to the side and got ignored most of the time. It was almost over and I had to go get them to say that the cake guy hadn't come by for a photo.
Overall, I wouldn't do it again.
I have some photos. I will go hunt those down for you.

Oh wow, so maybe not so great for a turning 9 year old boy then! I think he'd love the character interaction, but he'd probably find the rest of it kinda babyish.

So maybe I'll do the birthday bucket? Has anyone here bought one of those? Is what they put in them worth it? I'm thinking that and a Character meal might be good! Thanks for all the info you guys!

Do not eat the cake in the birthday bucket. It is nasty...

We had a great time at the Plaza Inn I think my 62year old dad had the most fun. We went on a Sunday afternoon and had a blast.. Great pictures of the kids..

DS5 loved it. Said best birthday ever.. We also did not use all the sprinkles between the 6 of us so we put them in napkins and took them home to decorate cut out cookies and stuff. Kids thought that was awesome..

We liked it. I have an AP and also got 10% off. Kids under 3 are free, but need to be included in the reservation..

No one tried to sell us pictures. we took our own. Had our DD2 go up to take a group photo with DS5.
There was even a woman at 75 who was celebrating her b-day and having a great time..
