After I bought all of my son's wish list gifts from Santa, he now informs me he would like Play Station 2. He already has Nintendo DS (handheld). He's 7 years old, are the PS2 games appropriate for a boy his age? Any ideas on where I can find a good deal for one? I guess I would need a starter kit or something, right? PLEASE HELP!!!

My son started out with a PS1 when he was 6, I think. He got his PS2 when he was 8. He's now going to be 11 next week and has moved on to the PSP!! Anyway, there are games for the "younger crowd". If he enjoys sports than you'll have lots of choices. Also, most PS1 games work on the PS2. I have no idea how much the PS2 is these days. Sorry. Hope this helps.

Don't worry about a good buy. Get it from sears and buy the extra warrenty for $15. We did this 4 years ago and had to return it got a brand new one after a year becouse the door would stick, my kids dropped it a few times. My sons are now 6 and 8 and the eight year old wants the eyetoy and the anti gravity game, I have seen him play it at walmart lots and it looks so cool. If you do get it go to wal. or trus and buy as many demo games as you can for 4.95. One comes out each fall and have about 8 games on them. Just the first level but then you will know what he wants before buying them. Walmart also has a three pack of games right now for $10. good buy. Have fun and I think well worth it. It also plays dvd's. Mum of two pirates

All video games are rated. Just make sure you get games that are rated E (for Everyone) and you won't need to worry about the content.

There are *tons* of both appropriate and inappropraite games for his age. Remember that you don't just need the consonle, you are going to need at least one extra controller, games and a memory card.

As long as you are willing to give a used toy as a gift, check out eBay. There are (goes and checks) 3,682 entries for Video Games / Systems / PS2. You should be able to get a complete package for a decent price.

I just bought my boys a PS2 this morning. Everywhere online they are $149 but the best prices this week for accessories ie. controllers & memory cards is Best Buy.

I would just watch which games you buy for him. You won't find them new for less than $149 (it has something to do w/ price control) before the end of the year. So your best bet is to find the most freebies w/ it. Every week someone has had a deal on them w/ extra controllers and free games. So, I'd look into that.

I've thrown away my Sunday paper, but I know someone had a good price on a starter set bundle. Sorry I know that doesn't help you. I agree with the previous poster who said to look for bundles that include a few games and an extra controller for under $200.

My DS7 LOVES his PS2. He loves to play Jak and Daxter. He also likes playing Star Wars Legos. But he spends most of his time playing sports games!

Good luck choosing games! We usually rent games at Blockbuster before we purchase them. :sunny:
