I want to increase the amount of storage available to my PlayStation 5 and was wondering what the best piece of accessory you would recommend to give me the most and highest rating?
Any recommendations because some of them are quite expensive and wouldn’t want to pay a substantial amount of money to find it’s the wrong product plus how does the whole SSD work? Do you just connect it via usb or do you have to open the console up and is it quite easy to do" Sorry for loads

There is a bay for an M.2 which is probably the best way to do it. There are soem requirements though, so make sure it is compatible. You can also use external hard drives or SSDs.

If I'm remembering correctly you can't play directly from the external storage on PS5 (I think you can play PS4 games but PS5 games need to be reinstalled completely). Just FYI. I'm not quite at the point of needing one yet but I'll probably get a SSD for mine. Right now I have enough storage on the system and cloud. Most should be plug-and-play.

^Correct. Only PS4 games can be stored/played on a external SSD so if your game library is heavy with PS5 games its probably best to get a M.2 SSD for expansion slot inside the console. If you go that route make sure you read up on what drives you should be looking at as the size is pretty important. If you just need PS4 game space just grab a external or put together one on your own. A few of us in my gaming group put together this set up and its been great and pretty cheap:
