DS is having a birthday party, and wants to set up the Playstation2 to allow 4 people to play. I know I have to get the multi-port, but does anyone know of some good games that are fun with 4 people. We have Shrek 2, which they really enjoy, but I would like to get a few more.

aren't the Crash cart games supposed to be pretty good?

Be sure to get the right multi-port (actually called a multi-tap for some reason). The case design for the two versions of PS2 are different enough that the old multi-tap will not work on the new thin PS2. It's also really hard to find new design multi-taps for some reason.

We got our old style multi-tap at Best Buy because we have one original and another thin PS2. They sell an adapter that allows the old to hook up to the new.

Many sports games allow up to 8 players. Yep, two multi-taps (but we will never go there).

We don't have a PS2 so I don't know of any games right off the top of my head. If you have a Blockbuster or Hollywood that also rents games, they should know. Plus, you won't have to buy the game, though at $6.99 a week rental, you might want to.

Thanks, we have the older version ps2, but that is good to know. We specifically limited the party to 3 guests for this reason, so mums the word on that 8 player thing.

Our Blockbusters around here have a strangely sparse selection of games, not sure if everyone has the game pass, and they keep them checked out forever, or what.

Not sure the age of your DS, but my DS is 8 and loves the following:

Shrek 2
Crash Nitro Kart
Froggers Adventures
Gauntlet
Star Wars Super Bombad Racing
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

These are all 1-4 players. Hope he has a wonderful birthday!

Perfect. He will be turning 8 next week. Have you actually played these with 4 players? I know Shrek 2 is good with 4, but in my limited experience with PS2, often times the the box will say 1-2 players, and only a very small portion of the game will be multi-player.

WOW, what a tough question. I could recommend games for the Xbox and the Gamecube that are really good multplayer, but I think all of ours are single player or 2 player for the PS2. I 2nd the recommendation that sports games are normally always multiplayer ones.

I ran a search here for you if you want to read any reviews. You could also set the rating to get away from mature content if you want.

Good luck!

All believe all the games on that short list are full time four player games. I follow what you are saying about the 1-2 player games, but I believe all that allow 4 or more are going to be full time four or more. They simply would be 2 player games otherwise.

My kids DS10 and DD8, both like Dance, Dance Revolution Extreme. You have to buy the dance mat, but they love it, and it is great exercise!!!

I'm pretty sure they are all 4 player games, however he usually only plays with my niece and nephew so there are only three of them. Gauntlet and TMNT is definately simultaneous like Shrek. I think TMNT is also head to head along with Crash and Frogger. Can't be sure on the SW as we rented it and he didn't actually play it with others. But we were discussing yesterday about what games we should rent for our long drive to DL next week so they would all be able to play and he mentioned that SW was a 4 player game. (yes, we pack the PS2 in the car to keep them busy, it's a long trip and with a 10, 8 and 5 yr old I have to keep my sanity somehow and movies just don't seem to do the job)

Hope your DS has a wonderful time!!

I also forgot to mention, all of these games can be played one player also. So if you buy them he can still play when his friends aren't around.

I was going to recommend this, but seen she has a son so I didn't. If your boy likes dancing around though, I'll 2nd this recommendation. My daughter LOVES it while my son could care less about it. Of course, they're 13 & 14 too. One boy does come over and likes it (he's 14), but he's just a wee little thing and has a really tough time stepping on the right part of the pad. Ask a salesmen if you can see it before you buy. I'm not sure they'll let you, but it couldn't hurt to ask?

Dh and I play Shrek Party and Muppets Party Cruise and they're both for up to 4 player. Lots of mini-games and you can fumble through even if you're not sure how to play each one.
