Playing Golf at Disney

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask my questions, so bare with me and point me in the right direction if not.

My Dad loves playing golf - and he and my Mom are going with us on our next trip. I called and spoke with the golf department, but wanted to get some information here as well.

1. Have you played (or anyone in your traveling party) golf at any of the Disney courses? Did you love it and feel it was worth taking time away from the parks to play?

2. Did you/golfer take your/their own clubs, or did you use the clubs at the course? I'm asking b/c if we book a tee time, my Mom and I want it to be a surprise for my dh and Dad - so we were thinking of not packing my Dad's clubs. My dh rarely plays golf, but I thought it would be something fun and different for him this time.

3. Which course(s) did you or have you played and which would you recommend? Not necessarily the hardest...but the one you enjoyed most (and not just because of your lowest score... LOL).

Give me your thoughts and opinions and any information you can/want to. I'm ALL EARS!!!

We were there last Fathers Day so I paid for hubby to play. He brought his own clubs and played the Palm and Magnolia courses. He has also played Buena Vista.

Magnolia and Palm are the best he said.

My husband has played at all of the courses. He always brings his own clubs (even though it is a nuisance to haul to the airport!)...He says the best are Palm and Magnolia, with his favorite being Magnolia (with the Mickey head sand trap)...beautiful course and feels "Disney."
As for taking time away from the parks, he enjoys golf at Disney so much it is almost taking time out of golf to go to the parks! LOL!

I'm going to call and book the Magnolia for them. I think we'll tell them about it the night before we leave...so it will still be a surprise, but they can take their own clubs (we're driving down).
