Playhouse Disney gets an upgrade in 2011

Disney Channel keeps advertising the coming of "Disney Junior" to replace Playhouse Disney on TV. I believe they will have their own cable channel like Nick Jr. As a mom of preschoolers I'm excited about both! Hopefully Oso will make an appearance in the new show too since he's now appearing in WDW at the Playhouse Disney breakfast/lunch at Hollywood & Vine.

I was hoping Disney Jr. would fill the age gap for the 6-9 year olds... My DD who is 6 is too old for "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Tigger & Pooh". At the same time she is (at least I feel) too young for "Hannah Montanna", "Wizards of Waverly Place" and "Suite Life". They need fomething to fill that gap!

I agree, my 5 year old is a bit bored with Playhouse Disney shows and she will watch Hannah Montana here and there but I would love if there was something better for her age!

Totally get it. We went through that as well.

Hard to believe, but in Australia we have had a dedicated Playhouse Disney Channel for 5+ years. Then the normal Disney channel. Never thought I would hear myself say it, but sometimes I miss Playhouse.

They are rumored to be coming to WDW in Spring 2011...not sure about DLR.

I'm still bummed they took out Bear in the Big Blue House. That was "my" fave to watch!

It was announced a few months ago that Disney Jr. would be replacing SoapNet in their channel line up. I too am hoping that they air additional shows for the 6-9 year old crowd. Hopefully something new and creative, not just endless episodes of the same shows already on Disney Channel. In our house, our girls 4 and 5 are already aging our of playhouse Disney are have been watching HM, Suite Life, WofWP, etc, but I'm tired of those shows.

I think it's a long time coming. Nick has had their station for a few years now, Disney is late to the game.

This should be really cool! I can't wait to see it, the construction walls near playhouse disney right now show that the show is going to open this spring.. this is awesome!
