Playhouse Disney Characters

We don't have cable, so I'm really out of the loop on what exactly Playhouse Disney is... but I think it's a set of preschool shows on the Disney Channel? I have heard of JoJo's Circus, but haven't seen it. Ditto with Little Einsteins. I'm not sure what else there is.

What I really am asking about & want to know is... what would be good for my 2.5-year-old son to be exposed to prior to going to Disney? I know nothing is "required." ;) But as a Disney fanatic & planning fanatic... I want him to have maximum enjoyment!! :) So are there any "musts" before we go? ;)

Thanks!

somebody correct me if I'm wrong but last I knew the show cosisted of Bear in the big blue house, Stanely, Pooh, Jo Jo's circus, and I think they've added Little Einsteins since we've been there. Most if not all of these shows are avaiable on DVD.

We were there last week and this was the lineup. My 4 yr. old is familiar with Pooh and JoJo but doesn't watch any of those shows regularly. He still loved the Playhouse Live show :)

Thanks for the replies!

I was actually just wanting to know what's there in general in regards to those shows / characters. What is the show? I've heard there's something special for preschoolers going on this fall, but we won't be there until February - so will that show still exist then? Unless it's super highly recommended, we might just skip the show since we don't know the characters already. But if there are other things going on with those characters & they're worth knowing... well, that's what I'd like to find out, so we're all "prepared"! ;)

Thanks very much!

The show is definately worth going too, IMO. The magical beginnings you are referring to will be over by then, but this show is there all the time. My ds did not know all the shows either and he absolutely loved it!!! The kids get up and dance and catch bubbles and go up to the front, absolutely so much fun for my almost 3 year old.

I think several of them (like Jo Jo) also have a "trailer" (think movie star) out back that you can meet them and get their autograph if you want...we ran out of time...

Surprisingly (to me anyway) my ds favorite thing at MGM was the 3D show.

Little Einsteins is the best show on TV (for kids) if you ask me :thumbsup2 . My kids love it too. :happytv: My 15 mo old goes around calling everyone June. We can't wait to see them.

If you are going and your son isn't familiar with the major Disney characters, it might be fun to pick up some board books or short stories with some of the characters so he at least has seen the faces (Mickey, Pooh, Donald, Goofy etc) They are the characters that are at all the parks. MGM is the only park with the Playhouse Disney characters. They are great, don't get me wrong, but you probably can't get him to know everyone before you go. Maybe some Disney music on CD to play in the background so he can pick out some tunes he could recognize later. I know Bear in the Big Blue house was a hit at my house when my son was that age - he liked the big fuzzy bear with the fun songs, and they have CDs and video/dvd of those shows if you want to start with one PD character.

I'm sure he'll catch on to the spirit of Disney when he is there! No homework really required! ;-) Just have fun with the whole planning process - maybe you are the one that would want the Disney CD's to be cranked in the house when you are cleaning and packing and planning! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We're going to eat breakfast with JoJo, Goliath & the Little Einstein characters. My kids are really looking forward to that! :)

We're doing the breakfast too....although my ds3 refers to them not as "JoJo and Goliath" but as "JoJo and Galion."

Of course, this is the same kid that refers to "Pluto" as "Pludog."
