This is an odd question, but anyone know of any neighborhood playgrounds within walking distance of Disneyland? My 2 & 5 year old love to climb and run and do usual kid things and we're going to have one non-park day where it would be great to walk to a neighborhood park.

Thanks!

That is an odd question! Kidding. :goodvibes

I don't know the answer, but I do know your kids would probably enjoy Tom Sawyer Island in DL and Redwood Creek Challenge in DCA. Great spots for kids to run around and play in the parks.

There really isn't much like that within walking distance of DLR. Your best bets would probably be if a fast food place has a kids play area. Besides, the neighborhoods that surround DLR aren't the best areas in town.

Definitely agree with the last post. Nothing within walking distance. However if you are staying close by you can do downtown disney for your non park day. There is a Lego store which my kids love to play at and plenty of other things to see. Also explore the on site hotel lobbies. I don't know where you are staying but my kids love that. There are kid size chairs and disney cartoons playing. Finally depending on the time of year maybe plan a pool day for your non park day. Have fun!

I don't know where you're staying, but Marriott Residence Inn has a playscape on property.

There are SO MANY climbing opportunities for the kids IN the parks. Tom Sawyer Island is a free for all, walk around island with lots to explore. Also, I HIGHLY recommend Tarzan's Tree House to wear out the little ones. I hate that dang thing but they love climbing it. Ugh. There is the petting zoo area and lots of free area to run around in Frontierland. Do not forget Toon Town, which had several areas made for letting off some steam. And at DCL, there is a splashpad in Bugs Land and my kids find plenty of places to climb around in there and in Carsland.

Good luck!!

Thanks. We're staying for 4 days & have 3 day tickets, so we're looking for places for the kids to run & play outside the parks.
I appreciate the suggestions.

I don't know of any parks in the area. If I did, I probably would not go there. The neighborhood around DL can be sketchy depending on which direction you go. If you are at a Disney hotel, they can play around the pool areas. Or, get a cab and take them to the tar pits or something like that.

Did you buy your tickets already? If not, Orbitz has a 4th day free when you buy a 3-day park hopper. If you plan to have hoppers, you can go for all 4 days and not need the day off.

Will you have a rental car? What about a day at the beach running around in the sand, building sandcastles etc?

Love the beach idea. We don't have a car, but maybe we'll rent one for a day. Thanks!

We have 3 day Military park tickets, so a great price, but can't add a day.

I rented a car from Alamo which is easy walking distance from Disney area in general (we were at Tropicana, it was about a 8-10min walk). I reserved a mid-size car and got a Toyota Avalon, LOVED IT. They also give you a map of the area so that is nice.

We went to Huntington State Beach and my son had a great time. There's a LOT of sand between the parking lot and the ocean, so if you have a kid that's a runner, you can still relax knowing they are safe. Hit up Subway before you head down there and make it a picnic.

Just looked it up. 119 W Ball Rd, right next to the KFC. It's a 5 minute drive from the McDonalds that is near the crosswalk into Disneyland.
