DH has always wanted to stay at Poly, and with my mom coming with us, we were going to have to get two rooms at CBR, so for just a bit more, we can stay where dh wants. I had everything planned at CBR, so now am going back over for Poly. Is there a playground there, and where is it located? I'd like to be able to walk right out to it, as I had planned to do at CBR from our room for my very energetic almost 3 year old, who will be just 4 when we go. Also, is the building right by the pool very noisy? I forget what it's called, it's right next to Nui...................I would like to be very near the pool for my swimming-crazy son who will be 11. Thanks!

The building next to the volcano pool is Samoa. I don't remember there being a playground at the Poly. There is a little water area for kids next to the pool and the beach is also right at the end of the pool.

I aksed this question at the Poly and the answer was "No playground." :guilty: We are staying there in a couple of weeks and that is the only negative that I have encountered during my planning. I really would like to stay at a monorail resort, so that's why we chose the Poly, but I sure wish they would build a playground for all of the little ones who stay there!

I am staying at Poly this Friday. From what I have gathered, their is an arcade, Neverland Club (you can play with your kids there during the day - at night that is where kids 4-12 go for babysitting), splash playground, the beach, lots of green grass area to run in, and a 0 degree entry pool. On the poly map, their is an area that says playground and it looks to be right between the boat dock and the volcano pool - not sure if that is the splash playground or a real one. Go to www.allearsnet.com and look at the slide show, the last one is a map of the resort. Also go to this website: http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com - there is a ton of info on the Polynesian there. It really helped me make my decision. We have a 3 almost 4 yr old ACTIVE girl. I will be posting our review on May 5th or 6th when we return. We are staying Poly concierge garden view. It ended up being $100 more a night or same as a laggon view standard room but I feel between the service and assistance for babysitting/diner reservations, best builing (Hawaii) and the food/drink and extra attention - it will more than pay for itself. If you have 5 people in your room, I would highly consider it also as it seems to be cost effective the more people you have. It could make your stay a lot nicer and easier. Look at the concierge pics and tikiman's website to see what is offered. If you stay with a standard room, I would request Samoa and a first floor room if you want to be near the pools and action. That way your kids can run right out the sliding glass door to the action!! Don't know the noise level though but I am sure others here will be able to help you with that.

Currently there is no traditional playground at the Polynesian. There is the water play area near Hawaii.

Over the years we've been staying there (since 1983), I remember 3 different playground areas. But I seldom saw children playing there....LOL. Our own played at each of them over the years but never on a regular basis. Really probably not even every trip and never for very long. With beaches to play on, two pools, hammocks, beach swings and the MK so close by, there were always more unique activities to keep them busy. And both of our boys were very, very active little ones....I get tired remembering! :sunny:

I never have seen a playground at the Poly either. I almost find it funny that you would need a playground at the Poly. There is so much to do at a Disney resort where would you find the time to use playground equipment? :confused3 We are talking about the greatest theme parks and resorts on the face of the earth at your finger tips. pirate:

There was a playground at the end of the Hawaii longhouse until 2001 when they made the new pool and added the wet play area in its place. I agree that I never saw any kids playing in the playground either.

Yep, and before that one there was one just to the North of Captain Cook's. Before that there was a smaller one in that same general area but a little to the West by the shops.
