Could someone please tell me what the difference is between these places ? As far as facilities, cleanliness, water sports, food, whether there is a pool, lifeguards, etc....thanks !!

I can only reply for Mr. Sanchos. We went there this past July and had a very nice day. There is a pool, but very small, we only used the beach area. There is a great water trampoline for the kids for $4.00 for 2 hours, a great deal. You do need to be able to swim to get out to the trampoline. Food was very good and very reasonable. There is no charge to admission or to use the beach chairs. There are no life guards on duty, but water was very calm. The facilities were very clean. We spent about 4 hours there. Taxi ride for a family of 4 was $15 each way, very easy to get to.

Hey Gina, We leave tomorrow for the 11/9 Western, and honestly we have still not made up our minds as to which to go to. I have read countless posts on this and other Cozumel only websites and opinions vary greatly. Each has their own web site. We may end up doing a bit of each, starting at Mr Sancho's and walking up the beach to Playa del Sol. PDS has a cover charge that varies with the services you want. IE beach access only, Beach and Drinks, Beach and food and drinks.

So, if you can wait until a few weeks til I have a chance to post a trip report, you can have one more opinion to help make your decision.

Again, I can only speak for one of these beaches... just finished the 10/26 trip and Playa del Sol was a highlight of our trip. We purchased the Disney Excursion and it included a buffet (which was just ok), open bar, water toys such as floats, peddle boats, trampoline and lounge chairs & umbrellas. We were bussed over to PDS via an air conditioned bus. The water was BEAUTIFUL!!!

There is also a little zoo, a pool w/ a bar and a small play ground. There is a section with hammocks. There were some life guards, also.

Our ds (8 y.o.) went snorkeling most of the time while he was there. I would certainly go there again.

Bob Noble mentioned that playa del sol had a website. Can someone tell me the URL? I tried the obvious playadelsol.com, and that wasn't it. I looked in google and yahoo without luck.

Thanks Gina!

Now another question - does anyone know the entrance fees and approximate taxi cost to Playa del Sol? Disney charges $49pp - it seems like we should be able to do it for less.
