Hello,

I am ready to book my package for 2 (1 x adult and 1 x 7 years old child) but I am unsure yet if I should go with Play, Stay and Dine or Room only.

PSD package with Table Service is 2635.29$ for my stay (7 days package with 1 night room only)

Room Only + Tickets no dining is 1816.11$

The price difference is 819.18$ / 7 days 117$

Am I better to take room only and have 117$ a day for food or go with the PSD ?

Thanks,

I was pricing it out for March and the room only discount, plus Canadian discount tickets, was much cheaper than the stay play dine. I was able to add on the quick service dining plan (which we prefer) and it was still much less. I guess it depends when you are going, if the Canadian tickets would be an option with a room discount. You can add the dining plan of choice that way as well.

Yes my price factor in the Canadian ticket Prices.

Room Only and Ticket is cheaper by 820$ which leaves me 117$ a day for food

Take a look at the menus online and do a quick calculation of the types of food you like to eat. Personally, food isn't a huge factor in our Disney holiday. We usually just eat counter service and sometimes DH and I will eat Kids meals counter service or split an adult meal. If you like to do the sit down dinners you may still be better off paying out of pocket. $117 seems like a lot for food for 2 people per day.

Each family has a different idea of what will work for them so you will need to do a little investigation to decide what is right for you. Also to note Room only can be cancelled without penalty up to 5 days before arrival. A package will have to be paid in full 45 days before arrival.

I'm pretty sure the quick service dining plan is about $75 a day for a kid and adult. We tend to do quick service most of the time as it's more flexible. We are also ok to share a few meals (some places have large portions). I do maybe one or two sit down meals that we really enjoy out of pocket. And we will do things like share a big breakfast platter, share a lunch and each have our own dinner. Agree with checking the menus though.

Yep, we never do the dining plan, even the quick service one as it way too much food for us. We might eat a table service meal or 2 during a week long stay, but eve there we share meals as getting a to go bag isn't practical. I do bring muffins, cereal and Pop Tarts (a special vacation only treat) for quick in room breakfast while getting ready in the morning.

Dining plan can be worthwhile if you plan many character dining but not if you prefer something quick and not too filling. Our trip in December is back on (DH paused my planning because he seriously considered avoiding the USA until the next presidential elections but he's missing FL too much) and we bought the dining plan. It will be our second time taking it since we usually prefer paying OOP but since we will be there during the busiest time of year, I was going to book ADRs everyday anyway to get out of the huge crowds and not have to fight for a QS table all the time. The last time we took the DDP was when my youngest turned 3 at WDW so she was free that week AND we did all the character dining that exist that week.

We're doing a split stay in January so we decided to do the Play, Stay, Dine for the first half and the room only for the second half. I feel like a few days of meal plan will be nice and we'll be able to use our reusable mugs through our whole trip. I also expect we'll have lots of snack credits to use up at the end of the first half and I'll just stock up on treats to keep in the room for the second half. I'm not sure that adding the meal plan saves us much money when you factor in the Canadian ticket discount but my estimates worked out about even and we wanted to try it out.

I booked room only with the cad tickets I got from last year's promo. We are only doing three ts meals in a 10 day trip. The rest is qs. I'm tired of being tied to adrs.

As much as I enjoyed having everything paid for before we left with the dining package, our last trip we paid out of pocket and it was so much more enjoyable. You didn't have to plan everything around your meal, you could stop when you wanted, where you wanted and to be honest, we saved quite a bit of money.
