My friend and her family are going to WDW in May. Her in-laws live in FL and will be purchasing the Play 4 Days Pass for themselves as they will be accompanying them to WDW. I know this pass is for FL residents only, but I got to wondering. When does one need proof of residency? I believe it is at time of purchase but does Disney also check at time of park admission too...every time? Can a FL resident buy more than one pass and give it to a non-resident? Disney must have safeguards in place, don’t they? What are they?

Paul

PS-Please don't read into this as me trying to start a scam (I'm not going to WDW until February). I was just curious about this.

Thanks!

:D You show proof of residence when you first purchase your ticket, but it is not required at any time when entering the parks. The fact that you have the ticket proves that you had shown proof at time of purchase::cool:

If your ticket does not work in the admission turnstile for whatever reason, you must show a FL picture id.

 Ther have been many times where our tickets did not work at a particular turnstile, usually because the magnetic stripe had a problem, but so far, we have not had to show any id. perhaps during busy times?:p

When we used this 2 years ago, there was a finger scan that had to be done with each use. FL ID was done when the voucher was transfered to a pass and the initial scan was done with that.

I remember when they had the water parks special a couple of years ago that ID checks were required each time you wanted to enter the parks. I don't know of any other parks that work that way, but I have had to show my ID when my AP didn't scan in the past.

CMs can tell immediately if you're not from Florida just by looking at you.
Especially Northeners with that washed-out-spent-too-much-time-inside appearance and that far-away look in their eyes, coupled with a certain hint of desperation to get in the park and get on with the vacation already! ;)

When you purchase a Play 4 Days Pass by phone, by mail or from AAA, you get a voucher just like you would if you pirchased an AP. That voucher must be turned in at any WDW ticket booth along with a valid Florida ID for each adult ticket. Then and only then are you issued the pass.

Of course, if you wait to buy them at WDW you get the actual pass but you still must present Florida ID for each adult ticket at the time of purchase.

Each time you enter a park, the Play 4 works the same way my AP works. You must insert the ticket & do a finger scan each time. The finger scan must match the scan sample they took the first time you used the ticket or the machine rejects it & the CM asks for ID.
Several years ago, a friend gave me his Play 4 that had one day left on it. I didn't know that it wasn't transferrable & since I'm a FL resident, I thought there wouldn't be a problem. There was. I was so embarrassed when the finger scan rejected & they asked for ID!
Since then it's AP for me! ;)
