Platinum Package- Worth the splurge?

I believe the Platinum Plan is about $200 extra per person per night. The Premium Plan is $150 extra per person per night.
Glad you posted this. This is what I've been trying to find out!

I was on the Platinum Plan last summer and i had a wonderful time. I took a few tours but i also did alot of park activities to. It does well if you dine at some of best places. I ate at V&A, Jiko,Boma twice for breakfast, Yachtclub steakhouse and few others. Took the fireworks crusie and Wishes viewing to.
Also did the spa treatment !

The Premium and Platinum plans seem to be for people 1) Who have been to the World many times before so don't care about less park time. and 2) Who have a longer stay and enjoy doing majority of the extra acivities.

Otherwise, just buy each part of the plan separately.

Something to look forward to during retirement when we have no kids to drag us to the parks all the time :)

I haven't done it, but I have researched it to DEATH!!!! :rotfl: (I have it all planned out... use the Platinum Plan for the least amount of time needed to take advantage of its perks, then split stay with the Premium Plan for the rest to use up the perks common to both plans!)

Can you please explain what you mean by dividing your stay? :confused3 I have done a split stay before, so I understand that. I am just confused about the ability to use up the common perks.

Thanks so much!!! :goodvibes

Sure! :goodvibes

There are some common elements to the Platinum and Premium Plans. Some of them are:

- Unlimited Use of Selected Recreation
- Admission to the Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba
- Access to Preferred Viewing Areas for Illuminations and Wishes
- Unlimited Admission to Select Theme Park Tour

The Platinum Plan includes some extras, for example, more tours, a spa treatment and dining at Victoria and Albert's.

I have written out what I would like to do that is exclusive ONLY to the Platinum plan (i.e., V&As, cruise, Fantasmic!, spa treatment, Dolphins in the Depth tour, full Segway tour etc.). I think I had it worked out to 3 nights worth of the Platinum Plan to take advantage of what we were interested in. So, we would book a stay at a Deluxe resort for 3 nights on the Platinum Plan.

THEN, we would split our stay at another resort for more nights (length undecided) on the Premium Plan to take advantage of all the dining and recreation perks that are still included in this plan.

That way we can take advantage of the Platinum perks for as little time as possible, and then switch to the Premium Plan (not TOO much different as far as rec and food go) for the rest of the trip and save $50 per person per night!

Whew! Did that actually clarify anything? :rotfl:

Thank you for the extra info. Your post made it easier to understand the info on the Disney site. As a result, I dont think either of these plans are for me YET. This is better when you dont mind having less park time - and right now, I'm not ready! Thank you!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

Also, if instead of booking a 7 night Platinum package -you booked a 3 night package and a 4 night package, you would get 2 platinum fireworks cruises, 2 spa treatments each, 2 sets of tickets to cirque, 2 platinum keepsakes.

Wait a minute Cass... I read your trip report. How am I supposed to get TWO keepsakes home?? :lmao:

The down fall of booking a split platinum trip is that you'll end up with an extra day of tickets and food, because when you book a platinum trip you have to buy tickets for the number of days you are there not nights. Hence, a 7 night stay is really an 8 day package, so if you book 4 & 3 you'll end up with 9 days of tickets and food. And depending on how you feel about the cruise and keepsake it might not be worth the extra cost.

Also about not enough time in the parks, that depends on when you go there. Like I said we did this plan in September when there was no crowd what so ever. We were able to go on every ride we wanted and multiple times. We loved soarin so much we went on it twice! We didn't even have to change seats because there was no one in line! So as far as not having enough time in the parks it depends on what you want to do there, sit on the bench and just look around? I'm also one of those kinds of people that love to be on the go, too much down time and I don't feel like I've done enough. That was the best part of platinum, they help you plan your trip, and they will give you the ins and outs of what you can do. They let you know if you're trying to squeeze too much in or if you're not taking advantage of everything the plan offers.

Hope that helps explain a little more.

Another perk of the Plat Plan is childcare for those with kids.
It includes 6 hours per day of in room childcare AND unlimited Kidsclub hours.
I asked Disney specifically if I could have one child under 4 in the room with a sitter and 1 kid in the kids club at the same time, and yes, its included! Couldn't afford for this trip, but for the next one when both kids can go to the kids club, that's worth $100 a day for 5 hours in the kidsclub for both (you can max w/7 hours) - might make the plan a little more worth it. In addition you could have the kids watched in the afternoon with an in-room sitter or buy the sitter a park pass and have a helper in the parks.

Plus you might have to check out by 11 and not get a room until 3pm, yep there are drawbacks... :headache:

We are getting ready to book a trip for our 10th Wedding Anniversary in May 2008! This will be our first kid free trip since our daughter was born 5 years ago. My DH is seriously ready to book the platinum tour. He is aware of all that it offers, and the cost. I believe that we will only be staying 4 or 5 days. I can just see us running from one tour to another, and then to a dinner or lunch! It certainly won't be a relaxing trip. Although my DH says that I can have both massages! :thumbsup2
