Platinum kids: why no substitute for Palo dinner?

DS8 would be perfectly happy with 2 free scoops of the specialty ice cream as a perk! 🤣
I can see where this is attractive but it would need to change how benefits are given. Currently it is by highest person status in the stateroom for most perks (not lanyards).

If a gold is traveling with platinum they all get the platinum perks including check in dates, and palo credit. To break it up by each person in the room would need to shift that.

We are not platinum yet! But I was trying to talk dh into taking more cruises to get to platinum, and I was telling him about the ā€œbenefits.ā€ This was all joking around. And then he asked what about the kids? Do they get to go to palo?

He stumped me.

He also wasn’t impressed with the pearl benefits.
Just so you know, Palo is STRICTLY 18+ only. Platinum status on the child will not do them any good.

I'm not sure that's right. The DCL system knows there is someone in the stateroom who has platinum. The system would also know there is someone in the stateroom who is underage. Give the adult booking the option of selecting Palo reservation or $50 credit for the speciality ice-cream. Give families the option of picking a benefit for just the adults or something the whole family can enjoy.

But then you have to come up with yet another perk for the ships that don't have specialty ice cream to purchase. Like the Magic.

They can allow teens in Palo but not in the adult pool areas. Just like they cut off the time kids can be in the Haunted Mansion lounge on the treasure. They can also keep Enchante and Remy as adult only. It doesn’t necessarily make it a slippery slope. There will always be people that are not happy. The difference is most teens aren’t wanting to hang out with their parents at the adult pool they want to be with cruise friends running around the ship and hanging out in vibe.
I enjoy the adult only atmosphere of palo. I’ve been to some nice restaurants in WDW resorts and misbehaving and loud children have ruined it

I'm platinum and often cruise in the same stateroom as my sister who is gold. It would seem more fair if they would give us each all of the Castaway gifts for our specific levels instead of having to split up one set between us. It's going to be a cage fight when we both call dibs on the Treasure tote bag!

On the flip side, she gets to ride shotgun on my status for a Palo meal. My 16 year old niece can't join us but in the immortal words of Morrissey, "You just haven't earned it yet, Baby".

I agree. I like the adult only spaces and don’t want exceptions made for anyone’s children no matter how well behaved they think they are!! (And I am someone who travels with my children. It’s ok for us each to have some separate experiences!)

Okay, then it's $50 credit for the family to use onboard however they want; in theory it will be something for the kids or something the whole family can enjoy. My point being let the adults doing the booking decide if they want a perk that is adults only or a perk that the whole family can use/enjoy.

When i hear people say kids are entitled these days i say no they are not - its the parents - those who seem to think their kids should be entitled to everything. Leave the adult dining as adult dining. If you want to petition disney for something, ask for an onboard credit for them to spend on cocktails or ice cream and cake in the uncharged cake place.

What child has ever paid for a Disney cruise? No, they aren't entitled to the extra perks given to those adults who have booked and paid for 10 cruises. They're very fortunate just to have parents who give them these cruises at all.
What about adults who have gone on a Disney cruise but never paid? My wife and I have taken our 4 adult children (plus up to 7 grandkids) on 3 Disney cruises. Should they not get credit, since we paid for all the staterooms? Should I get extra Castaway Club credit for the other rooms?

What about people in platinum cabins who haven’t paid for 10 cruises who still get the platinum perk?

Is it fair that kids do not get any extra benefits for Platinum status?

I think this is a very fair question - and both our kids are now old enough to go to Palo. Give the under 18s something. Some have made the ridiculous argument that they haven't paid for anything yet. So what? The parents have earned it by paying for extra guests over and over. A free smoothie at Frozone's, or sundae in the sweet shop, popcorn bucket at Preludes, etc. for Platinum level guests under 18 is very reasonable. It's really not difficult to come up with something.

I wish you could use the $50 platinum benefit towards Remy or Enchante. That would be a nice perk.
Makes sense. The demand for Palo is far greater than those restaurants. This could help spread that demand out a bit.

I would like it if they let age 14+ and up (Vibe Age) into palo
I would not. What is wrong about having a place where there are no children? Where everyone is an adult. It's not even about whether or not they are well-behaved or not. I just want an adult-only area. There are lots of other places on board the ship for children and families with children.
