I know this has been discussed here before, but I'm on a short break from work and don't have time to look for the thread. My DW and I are on the dining plan and she is a light eater. She usually fills up with just an appetizer. I've heard that it's perfectly fine to split a meal (other than buffets), but how do some of you guys/gals go about doing it? I'm just curious to hear some of the different things people have done concerning plate sharing. Have any of you ever had a waiter at Disney be rude to you for doing this? The reason I ask is because I'm a pretty nice guy, but when I ask a question NICELY and that person is rude or snaps at me, I snap back with much greater force. But that will never happen because it's Disney, right? ;)

We just returned from wdw and ate at the Prime Time Cafe. My daughter and grand-daughter shared a plate with no problems. The waitress was very nice and it was brought out on 2 plates already divided. If I had thought of that before, I would have done the same. i could not finish my Chicken Salad plate. It was HUGE!

I've not read about it being a problem and we have split meals in the past, albeit not on the Dining Plan. Please remember, though, that your server's tip is based on the money spent. You may want to supplement the DP tip with your own to avoid shorting your server for the actual service provided.

Enjoy!

Just back and split entrees at LeCellier and Jiko with DD. Just told the servers when we ordered, and like a previous poster suggested, tipped extra.

My Wife and myself split meals alot at Disney and have never had any problems. We usually split a starter and then our entree.

We do this all the time not just at Disney but at every restaurant. When ordering we say "he'll have this, I'll have this appetizer as my meal, and we're sharing this". We've never had any problem. Sometimes (not at Disney), we've had to remind the server after the one plate that we wanted to share was brought out, that we needed a second plate. But Disney will split your food before you get it. Most of the time, if you are spliting a sandwich and fries, you'll get a half sandwich and a full serving of fries. Just a warning there!

yes we had no problem splitting meals at disney also supplimented the tip.
