Hi everyone,
We are taking our first WDW trip in December and would like to start pin trading. I noticed that some lanyards have a clear plastic holder on the bottom but some don't. Are these to hold tickets and fastpasses etc? Is it good to have a lanyard with this clear plastic holder? If a lanyard I want doesn't have one, can it be added? Thanks so much!!
Kelly

Hi ... the clear plastic holders are from Cast Member lanyards and can be attached to every other lanyard .. I don't know if these are sold seperately in the parks ...

the clear plastic id holders can be purchased at office depot or office max in the section that has name badges. That's where I got mine.

What you want is something called a SeeItSafe which look like this

The black neck strap comes off and I added a key ring to the top to allow me to connect it to the hook on my lanyard. It is waterproof and is large enough to store an annual pass, my driver's license, credit card, room key, and Trina makes me carry the insurance card in case we have to go to the hospital or something. The SeeItSafe is waterproof so if you get caught in one of those Florida monsoons your tickets and things are protected and dry. These were created for kayakers to keep things dry. I am a big fan of these. They come in different colors and they also make a version that you can't see through. I like purple translucent one so I can make sure I have my stuff with me.

I like to use the lanyards thicker than shown.

I buy the plastic ID card holders at office depot or staples...you can get them separate.

Then I take a key ring and use that to attach it to the hook on the lanyard...

Meezers,
I use a wider lanyard too. The one I typically wear looks something like this one

but mine is black and purple with my name embroidered at the bottom of it in place of the USA shown in the picture. It's an inch wide and is made of mil-spec tubular nylon webbing which has a silky texture to it so it's more comfortable to wear for extended periods (and it's rated to pull 8,000 pounds so if I need to get my car out of a ditch I guess I can use my lanyard). The hook on the bottom is a little heavier duty than the ones that Disney uses. I also had mine made a little longer as the standard lanyards were kind of short for my height. I also use what I call a "lanyard pad" which is a removable pad that velcros over the top of the lanyard and fits behind your head when you wear it. It is terry velour and absorbs the sweat while padding the lanyard so that it doesn't dig into your neck when it is filled with pins. If I end up having to wear 2 lanyards because my kids don't want to wear theirs any more, I can put the "lanyard pad" over both of them and it keeps them together better so I don't strangle myself.

TinkRocks,
you should be able to find the See-It-Safe at outdoor sporting goods or scuba diving or kayaking stores. The manufacturer is Witz. If you can't find one around, let me know and I'll see if I can help locate one for you.

Between the Great Pin Adventures and our Winter Olympics experience I've done a little research on lanyards, their construction and the benefits of different styles so I'm happy to share what information I have.

Bumping and begging for a response!

Hi Meezers,

The lanyard was custom made and it's no appropriate to provide links to sellers but if you want to send me an email I would be happy to give you more information.
