There are a few things I have had done....

1. Profractional procedures to remove a couple of old chicken pox scars on my forehead
2. ZOOM teeth whitening
3. Chemical peels for face
4. Laser hair removal
5. FRAXEL for my forehead to get rid of melasma from the sun!

I would consider other MINOR procedures as I get older such as BOTOX, etc.

I am against anything that completely transforms the body or could be potentially life-threatening such as having surgery just for cosmtic purposes. My kids need their mom.

I'm having pretty major plastic surgery done this summer. My upper lip was almost totally shredded off (dog bite) about 2 months ago.

It still hurts a LOT - but nothing like it did for the first six weeks.

I've seen 2 decent face lifts in my life. Most are pretty awful. it is really an art as much as a surgical skill.

OMG! That is terrible! I am sure the surgery goes well and you have a quick recovery.

DS#4 has had plastic surgery twice. I am glad that there are enough people who really want cosmetic surgery because it would be awful if there were fewer plastic surgeons to do reconstructive surgery. He had a cleft palate that was repaired at 17 months and revised when he was 5 years old.

Several years ago I had liposuction because I've been blessed with an unusual number of fat cells on my tummy. It doesn't matter how thin I am, my stomach is always abnormally poochy.

The liposuction helped but what I really need is a tummy tuck. In fact, the surgeon explained that to me ahead of time. I held off on the tummy tuck because I wasn't sure if I was done having babies. Sure enough, I was right!

Some day in my future I fully intend to repair my abdomen via a tummy tuck and probably boost the ****ies with a lift and/or reduction.

But never a face lift... unless I can find out who Barbara Walters' surgeon is. She looks awesome for 80something.

For purely cosmetic reasons, I think it's revolting.

For reconstruction, I think it's fine.

Botox I just don't get. Botulism toxin. What part of that is appealing?

There are people with hyperhydrosis whose armpits are always covered in sweat, even if they just stepped out of the shower. Without Botox, they would have to have surgery.

I'm for all types of plastic surgery. I'd never let a surgeon touch my face, though, as I've seen too many horrible face lifts. My son had a rhinoplasty when he was 16 to get rid of a large bump in the middle of his nose, and it's made a world of difference in his self-esteem. It looks great.

My two nephews had Botox treatments on their hands, which were ALWAYS sweaty. It was really interfering with their lives, so thank you Botox!

My nose was broken as a child, and it is not the prettiest part of my features.

I would look totally different without the big lump in it.

I only have a slightly deviated septum, so I don't think insurance would cover it.

Yes, I've done it. My dad's nose did NOT look right on my face.

My son's surgery was $12,000 with NO insurance! Just start a "nose job" savings jar, and get it done when you can if it'll make you feel better about yourself.

I think plastic surgery can be and is a wonderful thing but like anything else, it can get abused. I have had a breast reduction and it improved the quality of my life greatly

AMEN to that! I had the same surgery and wouldn't change having done it for the WORLD!!! I am SO much happier and more comfortable. However, the surgery wasn't about looks, it was about pain and quality of life. I'm not sure I would ever do plastic surgery for purely cosmetic reasons, but talk to me in a decade and see if I feel the same way.

Seriously, I think the risks and possible benefits of any surgery need to be careful considered, and even more so with elective surgery.

If I had money I would consider a breast reduction and tummy tuck. Don't know if I would do it, but would check it out. I gained alot of weight while pregnant and I'm not a big person and I really hate the skin left over on my tummy. Also, in my younger years I was one of those stick thin, DD's, but God given! Now they are starting to hurt my back, I have a genetic back problem as it is, they don't help!

Wow - this is promising! How long were you off work or on bedrest? I have a 6 month old so would I not be able to hold her for a long time?

How did you go about finding a good platic surgeon??

When I had my surgery, it was MAJOR - removal of about 7 or 8 pounds total. I was supposed to be on bedrest then light activity for two weeks, but after one week I actually went in to work for a morning. I wasn't feeling totally perfect yet, but it certainly wasn't overly painful. I didn't really "do" pain meds as they make me feel loopy, so I just did Advil (if memory serves) a time or two the first couple days I was home when the pain bothered me.

I was up and about and doing far more than the doc said I should after just a few days. And yes, I have really bad scars, but who cares?!?! I'm SO happy to not have nasty rashes under them ALL summer long, and to be able to run and play with my kids. I'd do it all over again given a choice. The physical scars are nothing compared to the emotional and physical toll the girls took when they were humongo - I was a 34K - yes, CDEFGHIJK.

Oh, and the cost - I paid for the office visits, but not the surgery. I started with my primary care doc and OB/GYN, noting the discomfort, rashes, back pain, etc, over a prolonged period of time. I then found a surgeon - I did three consultations with surgeons who came highly recommended (checked with friends, family, and did 'net searches for info) and chose the one I felt most confident in. And BTW, he was arrogant - that was fine with me...you want to take me apart and put me back together, I don't mind a little bit of a God complex - LOL! Once I had the surgeon, his office completed paperwork, including photos, for submission to my insurance company for pre-approval for the surgery. It was covered in full, and in the long run it will save my insurance company big $$. My back has NEVER felt better!

If I could afford it I would have lipo and a tummy tuck. I wouldn't want to touch my face.

My sister lost a lot of weight and is having surgury next week to remove the excess skin and tighten up everything. I can't wait to see her when the swelling goes down.

In our area, the market for cosmetic surgery procedures must be REALLY good. We have new medi-spas and such springing up all over the place! They have finally outnumbered McDonalds.

I have had botox (under the arms) and my ears pinned. They were so bad that my parent's insurance actually paid for it and it took two surgeries to get them right. I'm thinking of getting my nose done this year. I've always hated it. I think it looks like a witch's nose. I really don't care what anyone thinks about me getting it done.

I think it's an individual and personal choice.

I've never had any cosmetic surgery, but wouldn't mind having something done to remove or reduce the wrinkles around my eyes.

But when it comes right down to it, I'd probably be too big of a chicken to have it done. I'd be afraid I might get butchered or something would go wrong.

I'd get the girls put back where they belong, a tummy tuck and lipo, AND a reduction of my horrid double chin and maybe a little lift of the sides of my face...

About the time I leaned down one day to pick up something off the floor and had a breast hit me in the face, I decided to get a breast reduction.

My insurance company paid for it because I was having serious back problems at that time. It was the best thing I ever did for myself and I do not regret my decision in any way. My back doesn't hurt near like it used too and I can buy normal shirts again.

I wouldn't mind an eyebrow lift, but other than that, I am content with the way God made me.
