I know Disney is concerned about going green and are not giving out plastic straws or plastic bags anymore (which they had to pay for and was not a charge to customers). I am wondering if they will now not sell anymore $4 bottles of water. I believe plastic bottles have a lot more plastic then a straw or a thin plastic bag. If Disney would get a good filtering water system and give out filtered water in paper cups, people would not have to pay $4 for plastic bottled water, a much more eco-friendly way to drink cold water. Make this more available and more advertised to the guests at the parks. Good idea? I think so.

Who said they banned anything?
They had plastic straws available a few weeks ago.
Actually they were more readily available than back in late August.
I found it nice that I could still get one but they didn't just toss a hundred at every person.
They are also still giving plastic bags. I even refused a plastic bag that was offered to me because I bought a coat and I wanted to put it on right then.

I believe at regular Disney stores you now have to buy one if you want one and I'd be unwilling to do that so I'd either not buy or just carry my purchase in hand.

As for plastic bottles its different.
The reason plastic straws and lids and bags are being targeted is because they are too light weight to easily be recycled not to mantion that many people put them in the garbage instead of recycle to begin with.
Bottles are heavier and more easily crushed to be melted and made into something else.

Only thing that really gets me going is how they want to go green but then they partner with Ziploc who wants to give everyone little baggies to put their electronics in on Splash Mountain.

So they still offer plastic lids to everyone? I'd be totally fine if they didn't automatically put them on all cups as long as they were readily available, but I believe I read they're only allowing kid cups to get them - I know in August this was a huge issue and personally watched a CM and guest argue about not being able to have a lid on an adult cup they purchased (even though they had the kid lids right there behind the counter which also fits the adults.) The CM eventually gave them 1, but it just seems so ridiculous that the guest had to waste their time and energy on asking/arguing for a fricken lid. If this has changed and they provide them somewhere, just that they don't themselves put them in each cup; I'd be happy to hear that and really think that's the most logical compromise.

I didn't say lids were readily available. However they are not banned either.
Kids size drinks automatically comes with one. Awhile ago someone said they were able to use a kid size lid on a larger cup but if I if it would fit securely. Once I get it to my table it's not a big deal if I have a lid and if I'm walking around with a drink it's a bottle anyways because I don't want to have to carry a cup especially if I don't want to finish it right then.

Oh, ok then yeah I misunderstood you. I thought you meant that they went back to giving lids with all cups. The kid cups and regular adult cups use the same size lid; but I know in August they refused to provide one unless you decided to really put up a fight for it. I was really hoping those days were done. I can see how it really wouldn't matter to those who use/like bottled drinks - we just don't fall into that category, so for us, the no lid thing is a real pita. Thx for clarifying though!

Yeah if you reread my post I only mentioned straws were readily available and the only place I mentioned lids was when I said straws, lids, and pastic bags are difficult to recycle due to weight.
