I'm the mother and MIL too......and I fix the meals, so they can use whatever utensils I put out
I usually only use them for the family lunches.
Christmas, Easter and the other holidays I host, I use the china (or Christmas dinner wear) and bring out the good silver (not even our everyday ones)
