Ok,
a little while ago, I'd posted pictures of some huge alien like vine growing in my backyard. Some smart folks here told me it was a plant called Kudzu.
I've taken a few more photos beacuse the vine seems to have this one HUGE mellon looking thing growing on it and now it's got these large orangish flowers blooming. Is this still Kudzu? If not, anyone know what it might be?

That is some sort of melon or gourd. I would guess watermelon if I was forced to. It's a seasonal plant, so you don't have to worry about it coming back next year to take over the neighborhood again ;)

Hopefully I won't be here next year so if it does come back I won't have to worry about it!
A watermellon huh? I'm afraid to cut it down and see what it is. This is Brooklyn and lord know WHAT might be inside that thing!

Don't let the melons fall off and rot. They will drop seeds and you will have plants again next year. Remove all the melons before they get ripe. You can remove the plant now if you want.

Looks like this got moved instead of copied from the CB, DWhittles. Maybe redo there again and maybe get some additional input. Sure is strange looking.

Looks like a type of pumpkin to me too. This probably got planted by a garbarge spill or even a bird dropping. Don't let the fruit rot, as you will have lots more vines next year!

Yep, looks like a pumpkin to me too. This website doesn't show the actual pumpkin, but the leaves/flower are shown quite clearly.

Looks like a pumpkin to me :cool1: Someone may have discarded a pumpkin there or a critter deposited a seed :goodvibes It'll ripen before Halloween from the looks of it. When ours do that we pick them when they're ripe and store them in a cool, dry place until Halloween. As yours grow they'll get heavy and break off the vine before they're ripe if you don't support them. The vines will continue to produce as they wind around the fence even when the main section looks like it's dying and you've picked those pumpkins. Pumpkins will reseed next year if the seeds are left in the ground. Happens all the time here. Pumpkins popping up in the weirdest places. :dog2:

yep, pumpkin has my vote too. Look on the bright side, you'll have a free pumpkin come Halloween
