Plans for two

I posted this over on the Disney for Adults forum but thought I'd poke my nose in here since I'm new, yet old all at the same time See what other words of wisdom I could scare up!

Well folks, after many many years of wishful thinking and imaginary trip planning, my wonderful husband gave me the go ahead to plan a Disney trip. This actually came about because I picked up a Panama Canal cruise brochure and made longing noises about what a wonderful 25th anniversary trip that would be. I also grabbed all the Disney brochures I saw, because, well... that's just what I DO.

The brochures sat there on the table while I did the math on the Canal. That's pretty pricy stuff there! A couple days later my husband wanders past, perusing the Disney brochures, looks over the top of it and says to me, "Why don't you come up with a cost breakdown at Disney for me?"

Where is my husband and what have you done with him?? Woohoo! We're going to DISNEY!! I should have tried this strategy years ago!

So here's where we're at. Thinking about travelling to the world in early Oct, staying at Coronado Springs. My husband isn't the 12 year old at heart that I am so I want him to have a relatively peaceful resort to unwind in. And it's 'our' anniversary trip... I want him to have fun too! So there ya go... I am totally open to suggestions and advice for a Canadian traveller in the fall, who hasn't been to Disney since 1981 (Epcot was still under construction) and taking along a man who doesn't 'get' it, but wants to make his wife happy

If he likes wine or food take him to Epcot for the F&W festable. It's great.

I second the Food & Wine Festival - my DH took me last year for Mother's Day (w/o kids!)- it was the Flower Show at Epcot, but it was so nice to wander hand in hand around the World Showcase, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of each country and restaurant, going on whatever attraction we felt like - just taking our time! Animal Kingdom is great for that too - wandering the trails and seeing all the birds and animals, watching the amazing shows and going on safari together - enjoy!!!

DH and I enjoyed dinners at Citricos and California Grill (in the Wine Room) for his 40th b-day trip. We also liked Le Cellier for lunch (couldn't get dinner ADR's then but did this year!) and Rose and Crown for beer breaks.

I was surprised at how much DH enjoyed himself so maybe you will be suprised by your DH too!

Me and my Wife went last year in May and I fell in love with WDW.My Wife did not ....well not like I did.The dates your are going to WDW is about the time we are going as well(after alot of begging she gave in).We are going Sept,27-Oct,4.It well be Food and Wine Festival and MNSSHP that well be a nice thing to attend....Have a nice dinner one night at the California Grill and watch Whishes from the roof top (make reservations)it's perfect me and my Wife loved it.Go to the Poly and watch Wishes from the beach it was perfect.Take your time and enjoy all that WDW has to offer I wish we would have done that on are first trip.Me and my Wife done the Dolphins in Depth Tour loved it!We went horseback riding its was ok.There are many things to do I can't wait until we go I think it well be a fun time to go (it's still Hurricane Season)but i will be hopeful!

My husband and I just got back from CSR and it was wonderful to be just with him. The resort was great. We were in Casitas and loved it. If you are not pool people I would suggest that. The reason why you see the convention people there is because it is just that- they are not pool people they are the convention people. But it was quiet for us- never had a problem. Have a wonderful time! Oh yeah we have been married 27 years and I wanted to go to Mexico - but it was great not having to worry about the water!

Thanks for all your ideas I'm thinking of maybe adding an extra day in there so we can go spend a day at the space centre as well. While we'd both enjoy that, I know he would love it. The pictures of CSR look lovely and relaxing.

How easy are dining reservations to make and how early can you make them? Also, I'm looking at the dining plan and wondering if it's really a good idea for us. On the one hand it looks like a good deal if you do a sit down dinner every night, but I really can't see us doing that. *sigh* I guess I need to do the math *shudder*

PS: Dolphins? Where would we find dolphins?

The Dolphins are at Epoct.The dining plan is perfect your save alot of money we done it and we will do it on are next trip.You can make reservations up to a year or more I think,but we made reservations four months before are trip with no problem.We were on the Platium Plan are first trip but we will do just the dining plan this time around.

On the dining plan we sometimes used the "table service" credit for breakfast. I know - not a great of a deal as dinner - but DH is a breakfast guy.

DH loved getting to try the Segways in Epcot (a short free lesson in Innoventions). I think next time he might do the Segway tour in Epcot (it's in the morning before World Showcase opens).

Coronado Springs is not overwhelmingly Disney themed - the margarita bar is great - but we found the food court a little pricey ($30 for lunch for 2!) Although if you're on the dining plan - that won't be an issue!

Our Tenth ann is this summer. My hubby wants to go somewhere like Vegas or Carribbean. I personally would love to go do Disney without the kids.
