Plans for Oct. 5th

So now with DL closing at 5pm that day, I'm wondering...

We will be at Legoland on this day which closes at 5pm and then we'll drive to Anaheim and check-in at GCH. Should we just grab dinner at DTD or GCH and call it a night?
Our most recent plans were to have a counter service dinner at DL, do a few Fanatasyland rides and see the fireworks.
Will CA be extraordinarily busy?
We have 5 day passes that we WERE going to upgrade to 7days to spend the first night and last morning in the park. Should we just skip the first night? What would you do?

Personally, I would take it easy and use the time to explore the GCH and DTD. I think I read on another forum that Oct. 5 is the Gay Days planned time in DCA. You can add to that all the people that would have been in DL, and you would probably have alot of people. I think I would be well rested to hit it first thing Monday morning; especially since, you would have already hit Legoland that day. Hope whatever you decide works well!

I agree with Canyon girl. I would skip out on the parks the first night, and just do DTD and the hotels.

I would avoid the parks that day. Not because of Gay Days though. I think there will be a lot of extra people there who are hoping to get a glance at Miley.

GCH is a beautiful hotel and DTD can be fun to wlk around at night. I would just enjoy the hotel and hit the parks early the next day!

I agree w/ everyone else. Do not upgrade to a 7 day, and have a relaxing evening in downtown Disney and your hotel. It will be easy, since you're staying at such a nice place, to just enjoy the room and hotel.

I would stay clear of DCA at all costs. It isn't as big as DL, plus there will be huge crowds (gay days and the patrons who get kicked out of DL.) It wouldn't even be fun, in my opinion.

How long is the drive from Carlsbad to Anaheim anyway? I'm curious, because we're doing the same thing in Nov.

The drive is a little over an hour...... without traffic! With traffic it could take much longer. DD and I were in San Diego (just south of Carlsbad) and were driving home last sunday (north of Anaheim), it normally takes us about two hours with traffic it took us over three.

It might be fun to make a late dinner ressie at Goofy's Kitchen, to kick off the Disney leg of your vacation. But if you decide to do this, I'd suggest making those ressies ASAP, since I'm sure a lot of people will have the same idea, with the park closing so early.

Won't DTD be pretty crazy around dinner time as well? I imagine that not everyone who leaves DL will go to DCA. I would eat near Legoland....that way you can check in and just enjoy DTD if your boys are not completely wiped out.......without the pressure of having to find something to eat for hungry little ones. Congrats on the January baby

Try and skip over to DCA druuing the day and grab fast passes that you can use once DL closes. It'll be crazy over there after 5 but atleast the fast passes will provide you a little releif!

We've decided to upgrade to 6 day pass (still go the morning we leave, but not the night we arrive!) I had no idea it could be that long of a drive from Carlsbad! I'm sure the kids will fall asleep in he car for a while. They're too little to plan Goofy's that night. We'll see how they're doing and how we're feeling, and either pick something up on the way or eat at the hotel. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking if everything works out just right we may stop by Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner restaurant on our way to the hotel. I was kind of bummed that we crossed KBF off of our itinerary.

We used to eat there one night everytime we went to DLR! That is the only place I will eat rhubarb, and of course the chicken and everything else is so good, too!!
