Planning Weddings for those Not-yet Engaged!

So I just had to share...

DBF had a phone interview with the job in Chicago this morning and he just told me that they want to fly him out there soon for an in-person interview. This is really good because I'm sure a company wouldn't spend all that money to fly someone out to them unless they were really, really serious about offering them the position. Am I right?

I'm so excited and happy, I'm looking a bit like this guy right now:

Thank you all SO much for the pixie dust and well wishes, you ladies are fantastic :goodvibes

ImMarcik - Maybe she is! Mandy, are you my soul sister? ;)

Ok, enough about me  How did you ladies meet your DBFs (or for any married ladies, your DH)? I met mine on myspace :rotfl:

I met my DH in a small club/bar at a party...he was there b/c someone he worked with was leaving, I was there for a friend's 21st Birthday. Some jerky drunk guy would not leave me alone, and he saw what was going on, and came and danced with me for a little bit till jerky guy went away. We talked for a little bit and went our seperate ways. A couple of hours later, we sat down and started talking again and the rest is history. I NEVER gave out my #, but for some reason I did...and I had just sworn off men...was going to finish college and then consider dating again. He called me that same night to make sure I made it home ok, and I knew he was a keeper:love:

Hey guys, how are you all doing? I've been super busy at work...it's our billing time. I haven't caught up on the thread yet, but just from this page looks like you girls have been busy! I love the pink and chocolate cakes. Too bad I'm so indecisive - probably because I'm not actually planning a wedding and when I do, I want DBF's input as well.

Anyway good luck on the Chicago job ArelysAdriana!

I used to work with a girl that went to high school with DBF and after he graduated college he moved back home and hung out with her and a couple other people from high school. Anyway, one night I met up with my friend at a bar and DBF was there! We connected over discussions of music and talked for hours. It wasn't exactly a love connection, but he was a super cool guy. I didn't get a number or anything that night and went home.

So about 2 months later, same thing happened. I met up with my friend and he was there. Actually, when I got there, he was at the bar and I (very cutely) came up behind him and put my hands over his eyes and said guess who! He was quite happy to see it was me and we just totally clicked that night. The funny story about that night is that he says that when he did ask for my number I laughed at him. I, however, maintain that I did NOT laugh at him....it's a running joke between us now.

Anyway, I gave him my number and didn't hear from him for a couple of days. I decided to give it a shot and just send him a text to see how he was doing (still very platonic at this point). He was on vacation with his family but we proceeded to text regularly for the next couple of days and set up to meet for drinks the next week. We did and stayed out until 2am talking! We clicked on everything. At that point I started to look at him in a different light. The very next day, as tired as we both were, he invited DD7 and I out on his parent's boat and it was tough to resist when he took his shirt off, lol. From that point on we were inseparable and a couple weeks later decided to be exclusive. It's been a wonderful 2 years and 4 months!

So while looking for cakes I came across these cake toppers. This one is perfect because DBF LOVES golf.

I think this one is just adorable!!

Here is a cake where the colors could of course be coordinated. However when I read the cake description, I fell in love. It is a BROWNIE cake with chocolate buttercream frosting. DELISH!!!!!

The funny thing is I probably won't even have a topper. I'll just have fresh flowers, but I thought those were cute!

Lol maybe!!

I met dbf online. Actually had been dating a guy for 7 months that ended pretty crappy. I went to a dating site just to kinda make friends...wasn't looking for anything serious. I was "talking" to both dbf and another guy. The other guy I went out with twice before dbf. We talked and emailed for ONE month before meeting.

My first date with dbf was:lovestruc and I never saw the other guy again.

This is a text from the day after our first date...I asked him if he was nervous about us (not sure why:rotfl: ):
Nervous...na I've never been so sure about something. For 4 hrs last night u made time stop in my world. Ur the only thing I could think about

:cloud9: (and I have so many more like that from the first couple weeks!!)

That text is so sweet!!!

I can tell you that I have gotten the two of you confused on here.

How I met BB aka brown bathroom aka DBF aka my love....

I met him through one of my bffs who happens to be his sister.
At first i thought he was just a creep. He was dating his ex wife.
Then they got married. In January at BFFS 30th birthday party we started talking. Just talking as he was still married. In March they filed for divorce, in June they were divorced.
We didn't really see each other again until memorial weekend, thats how the BB nickname came to be.
We didn't really talk for two after that.
then June 14 mutual friends were getting married we saw each other, it was a little awkward. Then the following Thursday he called me and said he was having a divorce party and to meet up with him at Sportys on Friday night.
Friday night we meet up, I bring along a few friends. We ended up walking to another bar a block away. We go out to breakfast, and end up sleeping on the floor at my new house. Then next day he is off to celebrate his divorce with his older sister out of town. Then we started texting more and then one day he called and asked why do you guys make fun of my brown bathroom...:lmao: Then I explained that to him. Then the 4th of July was suppose to be our first real date, but his son was in an accident. So we had to wait. The following Saturday we went to dinner and to cresent bar and shall we say the rest is history??
He is totoally not what I expected to date.
He has massive tattoos, he is 3.5 years younger than I am.
Has a crazy ex-wife.
But i am glad I gave him a chance.
Yesterday, he sent me a text that said, I love you.
So that is how I met the infamous brownbathroom.......

I met my DH online as well. I was dating someone else(this was 7 years ago when people still used AOL) and now DH im'ed me about my profile...apparently we shared the exact same taste in music, movies and books. Which was cool. But I was dating someone and didn't want to involve anything else..SO after chatting with him a few times I let it go. Didn't think about it for a year. Then a year later, I get another IM from him, asking how I was doing and such. Well I had just gotten dumped and decided to give him a chance now..We started chatting all the time and then moved on to phone conversations. Finally he convinced me to meet him. We clicked instantly of course and starting dating that week. We moved in together later that year and have been together 6 years now...We got engaged in 2004. Got married October 29, 2005.

Thank you! DBF and I have been together 2 1/2 years tomorrow, so our anniversaries seem to be just a few months apart :)

That is the sweetest text! You must have melted right on the spot

I met dbf online as well....:lmao: Although we tell people we met through friends.... some people in our families are very conservative. At work... just wanted to say HI to all you ladies this morning...

I haven't even looked at cakes, just mostly dresses and disney locations.. I must admit.. they are days when i think that my engagement is father away than i can imagine.... :sad2:

I do the same thing! I tell my family we met at school, because I don't think they would approve of me meeting random boys off of myspace. Plus it is just easier to tell my Grandparents that. I would rather not have to explain what myspace is to them

I met mine online too. :lmao:

I'm starting to feel a bit better about snagging a guy off the internet thanks to you guys :rotfl:
