I'm hoping to go to Florida with my wife in the first or second week of December. and would like peoples opinions of this.

Looking on the 'net, I'm getting mixed reports of how busy the parks will be. Some people say that the first two weeks of December are the quietest all year, whilst others say that the Christmas period is one of the busiest.

What I was hoping was to go over at a quiet time (our last trip was the last week of January, and the queues were almost
non-existant!), and also experience some of the Disney christmas magic.

We're planning to stay on site, though not sure which hotel yet (are any better than any of the other at this time of year?).

Your opinions would be appreciated,

J

Hi

We went from the 6th to the 20th December last year and it was blissfully quiet. The crowds were starting to build by the time we were leaving but we didn't queue long for anything, especially if we got to the parks early, most were walk on rides.

The weather was a bit chilly but beautifully sunny and we had some really warm days - perfect, I'd definitely go at that time of year again.

As for which Hotel? I'd say they are all much of a muchness, the Christmas themeing in the Deluxe resorts is fantastic, but you don't have to stay in them to enjoy it - just pop along for a visit!

The first few weeks in December should be quiet. It's the days leading up to Christmas itself and on to New Year that get really busy, so you should be fine. We visited the parks in December 1996 (staying offsite) and it seemed busier than I had anticipated, but it was during the 25 years celebration and I think the hype of this event bumped up the crowds. Since then, they always seem to be celebrating something and the novelty has rather worn off!!

As for the hotel - I love Port Orleans Riverside, although it is only a moderate and as we stayed there in January. I don't know what the decorations are like there. It seems to be Wilderness Lodge that everyone on the DVC board raves about for that time of year!!

It is lovely going when the decorations are up, but I must warn you that the Christmas music can get a bit much!! :p

Sounds like it should be a great time to go over.
Now, are there any "must do's/see's" whilst we're over there?

I've heard rumours of a sleigh ride, which sounds quite fun, any other recomendations?
