We are so excited to be planning a trip for probably early May 2014. It will be for my sons 2nd birthday.. His first trip. I was there last in 2007.. My husband hasn't been since he was very young. So we can't wait..and hope it all works out.

I used disboards a lot to plan my trip in 2007... And it helped so much. But. Can't hardly remember anything.. It's been so long. I will definitely need your help.. We will be on somewhat of a budget and are planning on staying 6 nights I think and will be driving. It will be my first trip with a child.. So any tips on how to get started would be appreciated!!!

Thank you so much!!

The PP has good tps but we never go into a park and plan our day. We go and have fun. Have never missed out on anything and have always had a real good time. DH doesn't like a lot of planning he says it ruins the fun. The only thing we might pre plan is if we do a TS restaurant and have reservations.

Just follow your childs lead. You know your child best and know what needs to be done when to make things fun for everyone.

Thank you for your tips...this is very helpful!! Thank you!

I am a planner... Last time I went I planned it pretty thoroughly, I will allow for flexibility though.

We are also planning a vacay at that time...my DDs first...she'll be almost 3. I also have 2 DS...11 and 8.

Some things we are doing...

Our DD likes to walk (but we know that much walking is too much, so we will have a stroller) and we've been working with her and her options...hold onto, but walking along side the stroller, hold any one of the families' hands, or ride in the stroller. Having some control gives her the freedom our toddler wants.

We aren't too far from the Mall of America and they have many events with characters...we take her to these to get used to the many characters at Disney...the first couple, she was scared, but now she's a pro and I know we'll have so many great pictures!

We're also bulking up on the Disney movies and pulled out our Mr. Potato Heads...we've been to Disney before and got so many Disney pieces from Downtown Disney...so the boys play with and help DD create potato characters.

Have a great time!

I also wanted to include, we plan on driving (we did on our first trip when DDs were 5 and 2).

I made a coloring book of Disney characters and movies that we brought with...and we had a DVD player and lots of movies for the kids. We also had handheld games (DS, Leapster, and V-Smile handheld)

We plan much of the same for this trip because it worked so well last time!

We are too!!

We went last summer, late August 2012. It was hot, humid, hot, rainy afternoons, hot...did I mention hot? :lmao:

We celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2014, and had been planning on a special trip just the two of us. Possibly Jamaica or somewhere in the Caribbean. We told the kids we would save & plan for Disney again in 2015.

But just for kicks, when the 2014 rates came out, I priced May trips (because in 2015 our oldest will be in University after taking a year off to save for school, so May will be when she's done exams). For not a lot more than we would have spent on our trip to Jamaica, we can do Disney!!

Of course, it all hinges on me getting a new van. DH will not drive his car down again (and 3 kids in a Mazda 6 is cramped!)

We go to see a van on Monday, so here's hoping!! Plus, I've been crunching the numbers, and between a savings account I have, my booming Christmas cookie business, income tax returns...we'll be more than able to go, pay for the full trip, not counting on any discounts offered by Disney. Yay!!

We won't be telling the kids. We plan to give them trip brochures for Christmas and tell them we have decided to bring them on our anniversary trip. That we are booking last minute deals to save $$, so no destination in mind yet, just somewhere tropical. We'll spring Disney on them when we get in the van to start our drive down!

Here's hoping I can keep my big mouth shut long enough!!!:rotfl:
