Planning trip for May 2005....need more info please!!

Hi guys, it's been a few weeks since I've had the chance to check in and read the boards....feels good to be back on!

Anyway.....I am trying to plan early May 2005 trip and was wondering if anyone has seen any info on schedules, etc for then??

I know the festivities at Disneyland start May 5th....and I am assuming that they will begin in May for WDW too.....

Am I asking for trouble if we planned May 6th - 14th??????

Help??!!!! I have a chance to get great flights, etc now....and I am DESPERATE to start planning another trip....having withdrawal symtoms!!!

We are also planning a trip to WDW in May before I even realized that it was the kickoff month for Disneyland's celebration. Hopefully it won't be too packed as schools are still in session in May.

I am in the same boat. I would like to go May 7th to 14th and I am trying to avoid larger crowds!

Great Time to go!! I posted on the 05/05/05 thread and though some folks might think I was the barer of bad news, on the contrary I am sssooo excited about the May 5 celebration. Yes DL and I will be celebrating our big 50th (exactly 2 months apart from each other) and I feel like everyone will be celebrating with me!! Here are a few of my suggestions for you or anyone going early May this year.

I booked my room ressies already and already had difficulty getting a room at my husband's CM discount. This tells me a couple of things. One, I think folks need to make those room reservations earlier than usual. Two, I would make a room reservation for a place you can afford. I have seen many posts where folks make reservations for the delux rooms, knowing that there is no way they can afford it if a discount does not come out (I believe the discounts will be hard to find during that weekend). So IMHO folks should book what they can afford at rack rate and if they get an better room at a discount, that would be great, but they will know they can afford what they have booked. There may be alot of split stay reservations to get the discounted rooms.

I believe the resorts will be at capacity during the timeframe around the 5th. I would plan for the worse around that weekend, and hope for the better. I will be making my PS earlier than usual for my May trip.

And lastly, when you post for information, take it with a grain of salt. Often folks will post "during my May trip 2003, or 1999" and remember that May 2005 will not be a normal May so can't compare to previous springs.

I'm sure these boards and this website WDWinfo.com will have a wealth of information for us as the time gets closer. I noticed there is alot of information in the most current edition of the Disney magazine, along with information in the Disney Insider. In addition to crowds during that weekend, I'll also be watching for any early closing of the parks and adjusting my schedule accordingly. Presently I am still planning my October 04 trip and my January 05 trip, but try to keep an eye out on anything that pops up regarding the May 05 trip.

I look forward to the Big Celebration and would not think twice about going!
