This is advanced planning, but my girls both said that they don't want to go to Disney in the spring if we could go for Halloween next year instead, specifically MNSSHP. How many others of you plan your trip during October not for F&W but instead for the idea of being there around Halloween? Are the parks decorated for Halloween for the full month of October, or is it just MK for the party itself?

I'm not sure I can wait over a year for our next trip back to the world!

I've been thinking the same as you...going down next year to take advantage of MNSSHP. It does seem like forever away though, doesn't it?!?!?!!!!! :scared:

I'm not sure if the parks are decorated for Halloween all month or not...but I'd like to know too...:confused3

We planned our trip so we would be in MK for Halloween this year (even though it means we have to take 3 days off from work). Its our kids first visit to Disney and we wanted to make it especially magical for them. Besides this year it is on a Wed and it was cheaper to fly on Wed's.

Stupid question, but we have never gone in October before... what exactly is involved with the halloween party and what do ticket usually run?

We've been down there 3 times for the MNSSHP and this year will be our 4th.

The park is decorated for this event, as are the characters. Kids can go around collecting candy, as nestle sponspors the event. My kids came back with a bag full of chocolates. You can dress up if you want to for this event. And I believe tickets are around $40.00 a person. Kids may be cheaper, but I don't remember what I paid for them.

The entire park is open by the way, and you don't have to wait very long, if at.

We went last year in October just to try out the MNSSHP and as soon as it started dh and I looked at each other and said "We'll be doing this again next year!" and we are leaving in 78 days (egad that seems so far away!) for a week at WDW with a day/night planned around MNSSHP. There aren't a lot of Halloween decorations (nothing like what is visible during the day for Christmas) but there are a lot of Halloween themed souvenirs and once the MNSSHP starts (and even shortly before it) it is ON! Dh & I aren't big parade fans but the MNSSHP parade is incredibly fun.

So to answer your question we don't go for the F&W we go for the MNSSHP!!

btw, adults can get candy trick or treating too. they hand everyone a candy bag on the way in, so don't think it's just for the kids...there are definitely different lighting setups and sounds and decorations. Little dance parties and such. It really is a fun time.

Last year was my first MNSSHP too! and I am SO excited to be going again this year...okay I am a 5 yr old hiding in a 53 year old body...I planned my stay this year around the MNSSHP, I had a great day yesterday bought my ticket on-line for the 21st of Oct, ordered my Winnie-the-Pooh costume from disney shopping and counting the days ! :yay:

It definitely sounds like a great time. One other question I had was if we go during Halloween week itself, but do the MNSSHP on a night other than the 31st, do the resorts do anything special on Halloween night?

I usually go to WDW in Dec, May, and Sept. This year I was able to get free dining through the Bounce Back Program, so decided to start my trip on the last possible day, so that we could attend the Food & Wine Festival and MNSSHP. My mom and I were supposed to be there Sept 29th-Oct 7th, but my mom had to cancel on me. I am now going solo and even though I've done several solo trips I'm having a hard time getting excited for this one. I'm going to be at MNSSHP on Sept 30th, but am unsure about dressing up as a solo. I had already bought costumes on ebay for both me and my mom, so have two to choose from, if I do decide to dress up. I've considered cancelling the Sept/Oct trip, but it's already paid for and I hate to give up free dining, plus the airfare and MNSSHP ticket are nonrefundable. Anyone do MNNSHP and the Food & Wine Festival solo?

You'll be there the same time that we are but I think our MNSSHP tickets are for the 23rd. Still haven't decided what to dress up as though. Last year my dh & I didn't dress up and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of adults dressed up - love it!

Ft. Wilderness has a "Haunted Hayride". I don't have any details because we've never done it before.

Glad to hear so many good things about this event... I just bought our tickets! We were already going during Sept 28th party so figured why not try it out :)
